Betterlife, again, if you look short-term, then you can always look back/forward and see better stocks, but your example of Building companies.
Barratts for example, has gained 10% in 6 months, and lost 1% in a year vs Carnival, which has gone up 12.75% in 6 months, and 49% in a year.
If only I had bought this then, and if only I had bought that then is one of the most common statements that people who invest have. if only, if only, if only.
Then, people look back over 5 years and say, wow I had that stock, if only I had kept it.
