Not a position I would recommend anyone else to be in honestly.
When we smashed £9, I thought, this is it.......to the Moon we go......What Do I know.!
Unfortunately I held over a million RR shares, and sold a massive chunk to buy into Carnival, obviously upon reflection....not a good move.!
What do they say.........You Live and Learn.!
Reality is that Carnival will eventually climb, it's just a matter of when, and I seriously hope that Q1 will be incredible results, and we don't have WW3 starting at the same time to dampen the mood.....!

My days of trying to guess the market have gone
I bought and sold RR, IAG and Carnival and every time I tried to trade I ended up losing a fortune.
Just holding everything I have now but I am stuck with a huge Carnival holding … 62,000 shares…
So it would be very nice if they would stop messing around with this share and get it back to £18.!

So it looks like the whole of the US is tanking again because of more “Inflation” concern… which is why we are tanking again.

RR has **** up 23% plus today.
Have no idea what is happening with Carnival apart from they are keeping the price down to enable the shirts to close before the results.

By the way, every travel stock, in NA and EMEA are being tanked.
Extremely frustrating, but apparently the clever people are assuming higher rate increases, which means people have less money again.

We did Aurora in 2009 for a weekend taster to Bruges and back just to see if we were going to get sea sick.
I think we were the only people on the ship on night 2 that wasn't dressed up.!
The second day after they left Bruges we circled around in the North Sea, I went and asked at Guest Services and said is this truly what cruises is like, as the ship was bouncing everywhere, and loads of people were being sick........The answer I got I will never forget........"Oh, it is rough outside then".........
That was the final straw for me.
Luckily I never got sea sick, not even light green.
Since then we've done well over 100 cruises, been in severe waters, especially when we did the transatlantic which lasted for 48 hours with shut down decks completely, and I think probably 75% of the ship were sea sick, luckily still...not us.!
P&O is a true British "stiff upper lip" type cruising, which unfortunately I like nice things, but just don't like the "hoity toity" (or however you spell it) around it.
It's the same as when we fly First Class on BA. The wife prefers business because of the poshness of First, and the stupid little salt and pepper shakers LOL.

The good news is that with every FCC that goes, the debt goes down as well.
So as long as they start to get enough cash in, which they should with max capacity, and even if they still do have a lot of FCC's, every one reduces debt and increased revenue.
I just hope/pray that they don't do another cash call....which in theory they now shouldn't.....but who knows the minds of these clever people who run multiple $bn corporations.

FCC's are not different than any other cruise in real terms.
Someone pays for a cruise, you DR cash, CR Balance Sheet.
When the actual cruise happens, you DR Balance Sheet, CR P&L.
An FCC is the same as someone booking a cruise in two years time, and paying for it in full today.
Yes, Carnival get the cash today, which is cash at bank, but they cannot recognise the cash as the cruise hasn't happened, hence why it's a Liability on the Balance Sheet until such time as the cruise actually happens, and they can release the Revenue from the Balance Sheet to the P&L.
100% normal straight forward Accounting Rules.
Nothing special about Carnival or Cruise Ships.
This happens with any Company and their Accounts

I cruised with P&O many years ago, honestly, for me personally, it was too "stuffy".
I know lots of people like that type of thing, hence why Cunard is in a league of their own, but it's not for me.
I then went on Royal and liked the fact that they were bigger ships with more to do, but also not as "Stuffy".
Noting that Royal are considered a 4 star, where as P&O are more 5 star, this is why.
Royal has the largest ships worldwide with their Oasis class.
I liked the $USD dollar logic, which a lot of people don't and prefer simple £GBP's.
So it's purely a matter of personal preference.
I have many friends who cruise loads and loads on P&O as well as all the other Carnival brands and they love it.
Now being Pinnacle, with 700+ nights, I get all the additional freebies, and I play in the casino and get the free cruises (and sometimes pre-paid casino loss cruises as well).
BUT... From an investment perspective I believe that Carnival Corp has by far more to grow than Royal does. I think Royal is way over priced compared to Carnival Corp.

Even if it was FCC's, which is unlikely now in 2023 to any volume, but even with an FCC, that's a release of the liability on the balance sheet to the P&L for the held back revenue.
All FCC's would be on the balance sheet as debt, as they cannot recognise the revenue when they originally took the booking and then issued the FCC.
Don't get confused between CASH vs Revenue vs Liabilities vs Profit.

Unsure how long you have been saying it, but max capacity on cruise ships were only allowed from 2023, in the last qtr of 2022 they had 95% limits of double occupancy limits.
All travel stocks are being held back due to the fact the people apparently have no money.......of course, the people that cruise have more money than those that don't generally anyway.
The Analysts are concerned due to the debt levels of Carnival, as soon as we have a bumper qtr, and start paying down the debt, with no more covid 2.0 now in view, this will recover.......
If it doesn't recover then I'm screwed. :-)

The Carnival Corporation has over 90 ships in it's fleet, Royals fleet has 46 in total.
Royal has $17.7bn of debt, and Carnival Corp has $28.5bn.
BUT, Carnival's total revenue would be over double that of Royal's.
Prior to Covid, Carnival was worth over twice that of Royal, now it's worth less.
Carnival at the end of 2019 was worth $62.5bn.
Royal was worth $34bn.
So is Royal truly worth 4 x times that of Carnival, noting half the fleet size and a previous worth of half....
I don't think so........!!!!!!

I always cruise with Royal, not Carnival, but own Carnival shares.! Go figure.!
I've just got back from two weeks in the Caribbean, and have another 14 booked for the rest of the year.
All ships, P&O, Carnival, Princess, Holland America, all of them are full, max capacity.
Drinks are flowing, casino's are jammed....
It's only a matter of time before the SP stops being held back, and the analysts up the price from $12 to $20, then $30, then $40.

Well, we have £75m in the bag, and the market cap is £87m.......so apparently the residual business is worth £12m, or 3.75p......
Strange that all the big buys have happened with loads of small sells..........hhhhhmmmmm

They are absolutely two different stocks, traded on HYSE and FTE, however, they are ultimately the same company.
They have very slightly different voting rights, and in theory align to the market share of cruising in their respective region, however, they are the same company, the underlying "feelings" that drive one, also drive the other.
So absolutely, a true like for like is not achievable.
And, I also agree that the last time they did a raise, and the last time it did tank, but the difference, as far as I'm concerned (and of course, I may well be 100% wrong0 is that we are moving into a clean 2023, with profit on the horizon and travel now opened up globally.
Will it dip, yep, of course it will, but overall, in my belief, it will now rise.
I'm not selling and trying to take 20p/30p a share profit and then missing out on £1 profit per share because I waited.
Unfortunately we are all looking at what has happened during the covid recovery and assumed that is the norm, and it isn't.
Good Luck with the sale, and I hope that things work out where-ever you now decide to put the money in the short term.
