Bhants.
Great to have you back safe and sound, and great to hear you had a good time.
P&O is no different than any of the cruise lines where they are building bigger and better and the cruise ship itself is the destination to maximise on revenue.
Obviously I'm on Royal and their Oasis class ships are by far the largest in the world, but with their new Icon of the Seas, which is nearly 251,000 Tonnes vs Iona's 184,000 it is obviously massive, and will be the new largest ship in the world.
The Older ships will be kept for as long as they possible can keep them. The smaller ships are the ones that goes into smaller ports, and have the weird and wonderful destinations, which can never be replaced by the gigantic ships.
One of my favourite Royal ships is Grandeur of the Seas, which is the oldest in the fleet, 1996, and even smaller than Aurora, but it has the old decor, and "proper cruising" feel about it.
