Joebop the small farmers have been going under for years whilst in the EU. The fact is Italians want quality because they have taste buds and they aren't in thrall to big business in the same way northern Europe is. EU regulations around food standsrds etc have driven the smaller farmer to extinction.

Joebop tariffs/protectionism are what hampers trade. The freer economies are the more activity. The empirical evidence for that is overwhelming.

Crowcast outside the Eu we are free to set whatever tariffs we please. The optimum position for any country is zero. However idiots running just about all places are guyed by big business in to putting them up to protect large inefficient producers. This is the Eu remainer model, in the pocket of big business.
