Crowcast you right an intelligent post but it is a statement of fact that none of the IPCC models have successfully included climate thermodynamics that incoprporate known gas poperties. You might be surprised by that but it's where we are with climate science. Hopefully more physicists will become involved and build more credible non correlation based models that use the fundamental laws of nature rather than short term correlations.

Ur understanding is good snige and you get that the trace amounts of co2 released by humans represents a tiny fraction of greenhouse gas on the planet. My issue with agw is that co2 has been experimentally proven to absord infra red logarithmically. Since we are at 90% absorption rate double to to 800ppm would only fractionally increase infra red absorption to 91%. In short the impact is diddly squat if increasing co2. The co2 hoax rests on this forcing notion with water vapour for which there is neither experimental proof nor evidence in the climate record. As such we are planning policy on a totally unproven theory defended by ppl with fanatical rather than scientific motivations. This has led to awful policies like bio fuels which carry enormous negative environmental opportunity costs. Our priority should be creating a tax system that maximises energy efficiency to manage scarce fossil fuel better ( we want to leave some for our great great great grandkids) and preserving as much pristine clean environment as possible. I'm not some extremist who burns fuel for fun. I have a car I hardly use and walk about or bike mostly.

Utt it's because they aren't teachers. A teacher would teach the experimentally proven science, ie the absorbtion of infra red by co2 is logarithmic NOT LINEAR on a very narrow wavelength. Teacher might then go on to say there are unproven theories by scientists happy to disregard fundamental laws of nature (like thermodynamics) regarding the interaction of water vapour and co2 in the atmosphere even though no can evidence this interaction either historically or experimentally, and our politicians are listening to these wackos to make themselves money.

Perhaps a teacher could show these kids that co2 has been experimentally proven to be logarithmic in infra red absorption which as such means doubling from today's current level would only have a 0.2 degree C impact on global temperature. The climate alarmism case rests on an experimentally unproven interaction term between water vapour and co2 that no scientist has yet recreated in a laboratory. This is what they have dubbed the "feedback loop" even though there is no evidence for it at all. It's simply an interaction term in a statistical model. One could as easily add an arbitary interaction term between the sun and co2.

Bruce I do agree Lloyd's is in better state than midland bank. Just meant that it's so UK centric. I think I'm a tiny bit younger Bruce so don't really recall the days when the bank manager was a god.

Bruce I think one of the issues with Lloyd's was the foreign adventures of hbos in Ireland etc were all disasters so there's a reluctance to look farther afield. A tie up with a south Korean, Japanese or American bank would probably be a smart move. Lloyd's now is rather like Midland Bank in 1986. Has to be a target for someone.

Inthought what are the other issues Lloyd's has in your opinion? I know in the credit risk side Lloyd's are very cautious so don't see problems there. Are there regulatory fines you think are heading down the pipe? My regulatory knowledge isn't brilliant.

Jersey someone point out on here that Lloyd's has divied out 312 pounds to every man women and child with ppi. When I saw the number I spat out my coffee but sadly it was true. Ppi has been Lloyd's deep horizon disaster.

Jersey on ppi the industry numbers are on the march down so be surprising if any more is provided for. On provisioning I think it's extremely likely there is a good/great story there too.
