Haha funniest post crowcast, like the CBI represents 7m employees at all. The CBI favoured ERM and euro membership too, says it all. They are merely a noisy lobby group intent on maintaining oligopoloy, monopoly and fighting for government subsidies/backhanders. All trade is mutually beneficial. In trade one should look to give as little as possible in exchange for as much as possible. Why ppl get hot under the collar about trade deficits I'll never know. We have exported the worst of manufacture, mining and energy production to China in exchange for bits of paper. This is a great deal even if Trump doesn't understand it is!!! The Chinese need to do something with the pounds we give them, burying them is a bad idea!

They punish consumers, and punish most if all poor consumers normally to protect richer producers. Farming land owner subsidies to millionaires from taxes of living wage workers springs to mind.

Exactly Bruce EU producers will have to drop the price of their goods in to the UK as they will be indirect competition with non EU producers. Personally I believe all tariffs should be scrapped as they are a testament to the weakness/corruption of leaders prone to crumbling to lobbying large noisy corporates. In all instances tariffs only make citizens on the whole poorer. A classic case of what is seen but ignoring the unseen costs of this expensive protectionism.
