The best option for the UK would be to withdraw with no payment and drop tariffs to zero. This would impact most of all eu producers who would face competition from world producers selling in to the UK. Before ppl tell us this would be calamity there is no economic precedent in history if planet earth where a country reduced their tariffs and went in to recession. Plenty of examples exist where tariffs caused recession however, particularly the great depression.
