Calistogo very possible the green obsession has meant aviators have taken their eye off safety. If the plane is unstable it's put far greater reliance on the on board computer and increases the complexity of the system. You cannot fly planes on dead reckoning alone so if the system has been so over engineered these are accidents just waiting to happen. It's rather like the green cladding stuck on Grenfell, safety sacrificed over this carbon nonsense.

Callisto I do remember from my time at RR that 2 engine planes are safer than 4 engine as they worked at a lower proportion of their maximum thrust, since a 2 engine planes should be able to fly on a single engine. Beyond that I can't remember much, I imagine the planes are far more complex than they were then.
