Fun I was awaiting your reply lol.
I get what your saying regarding government could have done better on the borders situation. However it wouldn't of stopped the variants. When ever we talk about borders we presume planes should of been halted , we never hear the other ways people arrive.
Last time I looked and data might be a little out there was just under 20k trucks a day coming into the UK, all carrying essential things such as food and raw materials, each truck has at LEAST one driver , as if the truck is going on a very long journey companys will pay 2 staff to keep truck moving while one driver breaks , thats a lot of individuals come in from acrss the whole of Europe daily.
Then we have the trains , vans , cars for various reasons. Also adding to the daily numbers of possible infected people that bring in goods we essential need.
The migrants are another one, it's a very touchy subject , I spent 6 months in the last year working on the boats picking them up , im as frustrated more then all of you I cam assure you, but the human rights act comes above any covid advice. But again 1000s of people coming into the UK.
All this BEFORE essential travel.
My point was and only this while I get hindsight of the government making some stupid desicions and I agree they have made some, taking into effect what I have just mentioned we were never going to stop variants coming into the UK , that mixed with selfishness of some citizens of the UK the government were never going to win this one.
To close our borders is impossible without dire consequences especially being on a island. So yes bad goverment desicions made but there are a lot more factors involved.
Just my opinion matey
