Morning.
I understand the discussion around Basel 3 and how it may "force" the Gold price into a higher value but I have a different/broader/higher level take on it.
IMO, forget dates for implementation and shortages of physical etc - it's not a market and never has been, the price is dictated by just eight "banks" to suit their own ends and it's been in their interest, until now, to suppress it whilst promoting bonds, stocks the Dollar etc.
If there was only one ounce of physical Gold left available and those guys wanted the price to be $1,800 then it would be $1,800, period. What the price would be in the real world, is another matter entirely as it is now.
What matters is why they setup Basel 3 in the first place re NSFR and Gold = cash on the balance sheet as a Tier 1 asset.
Clearly, the only reason they would do that is to enable them to "fix"/boost their balance sheets at some point in the future and, likely as not, for a very long time whilst their cash piles hold less real value in the real world with the prospect of $150 trillion of new "money" being printed over the next decade.
They cannot make the profits they used to make from usury as rates simply cannot be raised, or not raised significantly at least.
They know this, they control every aspect of the game(s) out there and they are, to my mind, quite clearly setting up a likely enormous boost in the Gold price to allow themselves to keep making profits as there are no other avenues/assets left open to them via bonds/usury/stock valuations.
That's my read, the ins and outs of this date/that date, why London gets a pass etc are just the shenanigans that will obviously go on while they're setting this up.
It will obviously take them quite some time to roll their current investments out of places like the stock market and bonds and into Gold so the price suppression is likely to be extensive in terms of timescale but when they're ready they'll simply let it go and heads will turn everywhere - you're not going to be in any doubt that it's going when they do this ...
I still like 2022 H2 for the first twitch in that respect.
