Just because it’s not what you want to hear, doesn’t mean it’s crap.
What if the hydrogen supply chain and related costs are an issue? It would explain a lot. Firstly the investment in to the octopus assets (afc would need to be able to take it upon themselves to get the fuel out there), secondly using our finite resources to scale up the cracker.
It makes more sense than any other explanation I’ve heard for spreading our resources so thin. To make our fuel cells work at scale, do we also need distributed ammonia cracking at scale, to reduce barriers to adoption? It’s a possibility.
Fuel cell systems - it is possible for afc to get enough systems out to meet the speedy quota, but I feel due to the economics, they will be token deployments to check a box until the cost comes down. Fine by me, but we do also need those deployments to be in demand, and for afc to be able to deliver on them in the short term.
