Scancell have just administered first dose in SCIB1 trial last Friday. If all goes well (no adverse events) then we may get results in 2 years. Full results in 5 years! That’s why most people can’t be arsed to wait. Ultimately SAR, just like all other pharma will need clinical results. Still an opportunity to make money in these early stages IMO. Sierra may be promising. The covid therapy trial should produce results in 22. That could lead to a BRH style jump for SAR.

It’s a cultural problem. As such the government and several layers of authority can certainly influence people but the ultimate responsibility lays with the individual. If people are willing to hand responsibility and hence blame to ‘the man,’ or others they might name then that’s a bad state of affairs.

On the basis that the virus is spread between individuals then said individuals should take every step to protect themselves and their own (not in a Trump way!) wear masks, get vaxed, booster and all the distancing measures.

As a service engineer that visits people in their homes I am asked with out fail, ‘Oh, would you like me to wear a mask as well?’ Or the other one I hear often is ‘it’s ok. I have had the jab...’ The fact that people pass on responsibility for such an important thing like the spread of a pandemic to a perfect stranger is quite troubling don’t you think?

I am researching Keytruda (a PD-1 inhibitor). Currently it has 1200 trials on going! That’s from the Merck website. Many successful stage 111 trials under its belt. Lots to learn I guess and it’s a bit more main stream than JAK inhibitors.

Re SAR:- It’s very early stage IMO. If it rallies I’d take profits. Staged trials can take 5 years to conclude all data.

It is clear that the trial was highly successful.

The mechanism of action key among many things.

My question would be: what do Keytruda and SCIB1 bring to the table for one another? What doors might Keytruda open, what safety might SCIB1 bring?

We will have to wait and see, but if they work as well as intended then the positive connotations are mind blowing. Bearing in mind that Keytruda has an established market.

It may well be that SCIB1 does not need Keytruda but the risk factor of taking that course may be much higher. Maybe this is a sign that Scancell is growing up. Looking to make a positive contribution to a medical need and growing alongside existing Pharma rather than shouting look at us. Aren’t we clever.

Am I right in thinking that SAR is about to embark on its first clinical trial in Jan 22? That would be for 1801.

Positive data would underpin the share price and attract more substantial investment. Maybe even institutions. Possibly even specialist healthcare investors.

That would however result in more SP stability so no wild swings up or down. It would be nice to move away from studies and into more clinical trials.

There’s a lot of the wrong type of noise on that board so keep researching the facts and science :-)

I read the paper you posted. It’s bit heavy. I get the impression that JAK inhibitors are in the early days. Maybe approved ones being 5 years old. Could be wrong. In bio pharma terms that is the blink of an eye. Angle first applied to FDA in 2014. Sclp SCIB1 trial was 2015. 6 years later Angle was ready to go again, a year later still waiting! 6 years later Sclp have started the phase 2 SCIB1 trial, it will take two or three years to get full results!

Maybe our kids can inherit the proceeds of these investments lol!

I grabbed £2k @ 14.9p to add to my small holding. It’s a long term hold. 2 to 3 years IMO.

I could understand the non inferior trial concept if Keytruda was highly effective so something in the region of 65% plus. But it is 30% effective for the intended cohort as far as today’s RNS is concerned. So clearly the aim will be to improve that performance markedly with the addition of SCIBI1.

It’s all in the RNS. Apart from mention of a non inferior trial.

We need not be dramatic as we don’t want to alarm people and effect their decision making. But, it would be useful for those of you that have been investing through a crash to share your experience of a previous crash/correction.

What are the steps one would make to protect a portfolio.

But but at least Lindy and team have demonstrated unrivalled preparedness in the lull of Covid. When it comes to trials, I have great confidence here. I keep harking back to the last years AGM where Sally and Lindy explained the difficulties in dissolving the Eno241 conjugate for Modi1. I know they had to solve this problem, but the fact that they did when we all thought they were just staring out if the window or filling in crosswords gives me great confidence in the work ethic, determination and resourcefulness of this team. Especially in phase 1 and 2 trials. If anything, the years delay due to covid has allowed many things.

1. We have been allowed an extra year and bit to add to our holdings here.
2. Scancell have no doubt checked the i’s and cross the t’s of trials.
3. Allowed the company to build cash and resources.

Meanwhile the market has not raised the price to uncomfortable buying levels. No doubt this is due to the stability that Mr Diggle, Vulpes and Redmile has brought to the party whilst the world has opened up again.

Anyway I better stop waffling! I’ll be adding here when funds become free.

2nd clinical trial this year

It gets complicated pretty quickly but if you imagine the following:

Science believes we all have cancer. That in almost all cases our immune systems irradiate it. These battles continue our whole lives but for some people cancer gains the upper hand. When this happens the cancer becomes what is known as clinical - meaning viable.

At this point the body needs help and that’s where the science and doctors come in.

Firstly we need to understand why cancer gains the upper hand and becomes established. It basically corrupts the immune response (sounds like covid doesn’t it) usually at one of many checkpoints. It can switch off, degrade the response or even commandeer parts of the immune system to work for the cancer. (T Cells)

T Cells are the good guys and they usually kill cancers and host of other infections before they are even an issue. However cancer like covid is clever. It can in some cases manipulate T Cells as mentioned above (at checkpoints) at the point T Cells are about to kill the cancer. If cancer succeeds it gains a foot hold.

The point at which cancer takes over is at check points (there are many of these).

Checkpoint inhibitors block the signals from cancer and allow the T Cells to do their job. With the aid of drugs if needs be.

So the above is the play. Everything you have heard of such as CarT, cancer vaccines etc play out the same battle but the method scientists use differs slightly.

Like I say it gets complicated quickly but the rules of general battle are the same. It’s essentially a power struggle between T & B cells (lymphocytes) and cancer.

That’s certainly a good summary of the mood on that BB. But, wtfd - they - know!

All the reasons they are stating are NOT based on the science. After all that is where the real value lies IMO.

Conversely, where the value dies is by statements such as:

Somebody (institution’s) are loading up

( I appreciate that these statements are not your own)

Rumours such as these are common place on AIM. It’s certainly typical of so called informed investors to suggest such things, but I think they are a distraction.

Maybe take a look at an introduction to Immunology on YouTube. It really is simple; killer T Cells and B Cells (the good guys) need help to invoke an immune response against cancer. It’s actually not so different with infections disease such as covid etc. Over stimulation leads to autoimmune response (which is bad).

Get to know the characters like cytokines, dendritic cells etc and it becomes quite a fascinating and easy to follow drama! It reminds me of Lord of the Rings.

Re; is SAR a good investment? Well, can you see where the science goes that extra mile? Where they find a way no matter what. This is a sign of a good bio pharma. I have certainly seen that characteristic in Scancell. I am looking at SAR right now to see if I can find the same.
