The Investopedia article is more nuanced,
"Though there is as yet no standardized definition of Web 3.0, it does have a few defining features:"
I think I may have suggested as much already but even Investopedia, almost, falls on its face,
"As a result, Web 3.0 applications will run on blockchains *or* decentralized peer-to-peer networks, *or* a combination thereof—such decentralized apps are referred to as dApps."
by including the possibility of a blockchain forming part of the solution.
I'll take the view that peer to peer networks based on trust offer the opportunity for a much better solution but that leaves the Crypto-Bros, with their ponzi schemes, and Big Digital, with their walled gardens, out of the party.
