as a long term iag holder, today should have been a joyous celebration. unfortunately, as i am also now holding a considerable chunk here, i am actually negative on the day.

Hi Jtan - good to hear from you again. I like the sound of that "bollinger band" - although personally I prefer Dom Perignon, which I will be having tonight, having ditched a a large chunk of my remaining shares earlier today at 233. I must admit that there have been many times over the last few years when I doubted we would ever get back to this level - we were in the 160's as recently as August, so it's been quite the turnaround. Happy with the price I got, and will continue to hold a small amount, and possibly top up if there is a pullback - if the last few years have taught us anything, it's that you just never know what is around the next corner, especially in the travel sector.

Anyway, congrats to all long-term holders here who have finally seen their patience rewarded - it's been a long and arduous journey.

Robbren - agreed. I have sold some, still holding some, but I think there is limited upside from here - the market cap. is now roughly where it was pre-covid.

Jackson 123 - I admire your optimism, but talk of £4 is pure fantasy. £2.50/£2.70 maybe.

Hi Garonne - I see that you have the same masochistic tendencies as myself, ie. invested in Pru, as well as here and Ezj. Hopefully things will come good for both of us.

As for events overnight - we all knew it was coming, so may as well get it over with, and it appears that the strikes have been targeted at military installations only, rather than civilian areas, or nuclear or oil sights. "Hopefully calm heads will prevail". I agree with the sentiment (I'm sure we all do), but unfortunately the words "calm heads" and "Middle East" should never be used in the same sentence - an oxymoron of truly epic proportions. A lot of the people holding power there have absolutely no desire for peace. Anyway, what with that, the budget next week, and the US election the following week, things certainly won't be boring. Get strapped in on that rollercoaster.

Anyway, nice that we are comfortably back over the £2 barrier again. Having vowed a while back to ditch everything here at £2, having spent what seemed like forever at 160/170, I then (predictably) failed to do that a few weeks back, only to see us drop back to the 180's. So this time I have ditched quite a few in tranches, including some at 214, which is (for now) the year high - that really is not like me at all - so I'm happy with that, and still holding a smallish number that I am comfortable with.

Could be a turbulent few weeks coming up (same as it ever was) - results here; the upcoming Budget; the US election; the Israel/Iran situation; not to mention any other as yet unseen crises lurking around the next corner. Never any shortage of those - especially for this sector.

Hard to believe we are nearly at the end of 2024 - where the hell did that go? What will 2025 bring? Questions, questions...

Given what happened to the Shanghai market last night, today was an exceptionally good day. After 2 days of drops, should the Chinese market take an upturn, PRU could well return to well over the £7 barrier.

Fingers crossed. Not that "fingers crossed" is a particularly admirable business strategy, but its all I have for now.

Given the minor bloodbath in the markets today, IAG is holding up quite nicely, although I can't see there being much upside until the Israel/Iran situation becomes clearer. Hard to believe that it's over a year since the situation in The Middle East blew up (literally and figuratively) and that it's nearly 3 years since Russia invaded Ukraine. Sorry to say, I can't see either of these situations being resolved anytime soon - if anything they're more likely to deteriorate. Welcome to the new world order - all rather depressing.

Even if I'm wrong about these issues being resolved soon, I have no doubt something else would soon pop up to replace them - seems to me we have been on an unpleasant downhill spiral for years now, lurching from one crisis to another - Brexit/covid/Ukraine/energy costs/ inflation/political turmoil/cost of living crisis/ Middle East; not to mention other stuff like climate change. On a purely selfish level, as an investor in the travel and leisure sector, it has been (to put it politely), turbulent.

Wish I had stuck with premium bonds.

I had a cheeky top-up at 511 (during Tuesday's drop), thinking I was getting a bargain - ha ha ha. Hard to believe it's less than a week since we were at 540 plus - incredibly frustrating, especially as I was convinced that we were headed back towards high 500's (at least.)

I imagine quite a few will be selling over the next 24 hours, concerned at what may happen over the weekend, as Israel have already stated their intention to retaliate (again). Or is that already priced in now? Consider me clueless. All I do know is that the continuous "retaliations" seem destined to never end. All rather depressing.

Had been looking forward to the latest figures coming soon, but it seems to me that they might be buried under all the calamitous macro events currently unfolding. Anyway, I'm just going to sit it out, and hopefully we'll get to the promised land (£6 plus) at some point - it just may take longer than I had hoped. If the Middle East goes fully belly up, then I guess the value of my little portfolio will be the least of my worries.

Only about a week since the 12 month high, and now back in the 180's - this share rarely fails to disappoint. Had ditched a few at about 207, but bought back a few at 198, thinking I was getting a bargain. Will I ever learn? Probably not. Just have to sit it out now, although it's tempting to bail now, as who knows what may happen in the M.E. over the weekend. Israel have already pledged to retaliate against Iran's retaliation against Israel's retaliation against Hezbollah's retaliation against..... you see where I'm going with this.
