Hi James,
Politicians. Crooks in suits, the lot of them, lol. :)
Sometimes people take it all a bit too seriously. I mean, it's a very serious business, but one has to retain perspective.
My girl, as in my partner, is a bit "peace & love", im a libertarian. We love our differences and she teases me, and i her, about the flaws in our world views.
If we have people for dinner or go for a pint, we like to talk, the more controversial the better. Its exciting hearing everyone's passions and perspectives.
I've voted for all sorts and blow with the wind, but what's important to me is that everyone has a voice. Im really not into this shutting people down for having the "wrong" opinions business, whether i agree with them or not. That's the libertarian in me i guess :)
Unfortunately, thats kind of what happened here, with regular poster being told that they are all of a sudden unwelcome simply for having an opinion. It's all a bit daft if you ask me, but it's the way of the world at the moment.
Re Chagos. The Chagossians are now fleeing to the UK to escape persecution in Mauritius, which about sums that "deal" up, lol.
The idea that the base was at risk with the U.S navy stationed there is just absurd. But it's the marine wilderness and Chinese influence that trouble me the most, oh and the multi-billion bill isn't exactly a sweetener, lol.
Agree that we need to stand up for the countryside, its traditions and sanctity. It's a treasure we need to preserve, and often feels like the last bastion of sanity in these crazy times.
P.S, It's not unusual for me to be offline, just so if you do post and dont get a timely response, you know why. :)
