I guess the question is whether a more cash liquid oil producer, maybe one already working in the area, would have any interest in B-10 for extraction as a side line or for exploiting an idle rig.

How would ADV make a commercial prospect of this? They're a joint venture investment company not an O&G production company. It's possible there may be some residual cost recovery in selling the well head and data to someone speculative enough to hold on to it. They could try suing for professional indemnity against the seismic data interpretation used to assess risk of investment. But usually in this situation it's cut and run with whatever you can salvage and onto the next venture.

The current discovery doesn't look like a commercial prospect, that's why CVN are abandoning it (and why it was previously abandoned when oil prices were lower). Even at the expected column depth it was only going to make money for a very limited time. At 12m it's not, and it's not like a land based well head that you can fit up with a nodding donkey serviced by a mechanic and a land rover, it's a rig out in the middle of the ocean, just the costs of leasing it and supplying with ships from Australia are considerable.

Really hard to say, no-one knows at this point. ADV is an investment joint venture company not a drilling company. Its business model depends on picking more winners than losers before it runs out of cash. That's in the balance at the moment and would need more news about whether the first venture has any mileage at all for return on investment, and whether there is any chance of a second venture.

How are you interpreting what is a buy or a sell? The data on LSE only shows trades above and below the mid price (but labels them buy or sell). ADV trades on LSE using SETSqx, which is based on the periodic auctions so it's pretty hard to interpret these data in real time unless you have direct access. Also, every sell is also a buy for someone on the other end of the trade, and vice versa.

CNV will have huge incentive to make another announcement before their own shares start trading again on Friday, after suspension, maybe with more data analysis. Will be interesting to see what they say anyway.

BBs like this are full of mad rampers and derampers, representing the interests of people with long and short positions, just goes with the territory. If you see a load of anonymous FUD posters turn up on a BB then it's always a useful signal that there are short interests at work. What's often harder to separate on BBs is the difference between long term 'investors' posts and short term rampers. There's nothing wrong with short term trading or long term investing, just different strategies, but rampers are just as bad as derampers and more so if they strengthen your own cognitive bias.
