PW was a decent enough small time Bitcoin sneaker guy but he was never cut out to be CEO of a $1bn company, far too naive in corporate affairs and far too large an ego to allow anyone with more business knowledge and experience than himself anywhere near the company. No-one with real business acumen would stay long on the board of any company with a CEO who won't listen or delegate. Getting shafted by your own bank and not filling the chair position was always a red flag.

At this point in the operation cycle the basic capital is still in place and the CEO has only one job, find helium as quickly as possible. Lorna is very experienced managing operations in this geographic region and in these specific geological conditions. There's probably no cash burn headroom to hire another another large salary for this campaign anyway. She has one shot. If they don't succeed they have to raise or sell the rights.
