Yes, they took fluid samples at depths under downhole pressure conditions, brought them to the surface under sealed laboratory conditions, and they yielded gas up to the concentrations described.

The gas is liberated by geothermal process, and transported through geological fault lines from the basement via a liquid vector under the lake bed, The RNS refers to both gases and fluids. Fluid samples were taken for analysis.

Lab results aren’t the main info, apart from that confirmation it’s the analysis of the wire line and flow data that will be significant. They will need volumetric estimates that are consistent with O&G standards for reserve estimation. That isn’t entirely straight forward as the liquid vector thesis isn’t a trapped reservoir (like an oil reserve or a coal seam). It’s a generative mechanism for liberating gas that may be, to all practical purposes, unlimited over time. The key estimation then is what volume can realistically be flowed to surface per year, at what cost.

The interviewer has not asked because it’s the company’s PR agency and they will have been told not to ask. The news focus on the brilliant preliminary results. There will be more detailed results and more interviews. Then there will be decisions about the next phase of development.

They have not announced a discovery yet. That comes after due diligence on the data analysis. But no doubt thus is a development of global significance. The geology has been extensively documented for years. Working out how to get the helium out of the ground in a controlled way is a game changer.

Should it be worth a minimum mcap of $200m, absolutely. But all depends how many shares are then in issue.
