Likewise, I have 50% of my savings in CBG (much less than a billion pounds though). It’s been very kind to me so far and I’m hopeful for the next few months.

My opinion is that a deal is being agreed upon behind the scenes between FCA and lenders. I’m not expecting anyone to challenge it after it’s announced. For this to happen I think the FCA will have agreed some compromises with the lenders. This could be the size of the payout or the date they go back to.

We’re going to find out soon enough.

Bought recently at 300, anticipating a 100% increase in a few months. Following yesterday’s RNS I sold today at 275. I don’t like making a loss but accept that I made a mistake.

The announcement yesterday was very poor in my opinion. Promising jam some time in 2028. Loads of flannel “ create capacity to invest in the future”, “ pioneering agentic marketing platform”, “ fit for the future and built to win”. This actually says nothing.

In my opinion what they should have said is “cut employee numbers from over 100,000 to 50,000. Their work will be replaced by AI bots which are cheaper and more effective.”

This may sound brutal but a CEO of a large company that is failing needs to be tough.

I’m expecting WPP to continue to decline.

I watched Close Brothers decrease in value throughout 2021 to 2024. I bought in Nov 2024 at 200 thinking that was the bottom. I was wrong. For several days later it continued to fall, reaching 179. I kept my nerve and it has done well since.

In a similar style I’ve watched WPP decrease. I’ve been hoping they would cancel the dividend, the sp would drop 25% and I’d leap in to bag a certainty. I now realise this is unlikely to happen and I simply need courage in my convictions. I purchased a few days ago at 300. Not the best of timing, however, I am still convinced this will recover.

The company needs to adapt and adjust with the changes in tech. This may unfortunately require job losses but it’s a case of sink or swim. I’m confident that the right decisions will be made and in 24 months we will have a 100% gain in sp.

I was ridiculed earlier in the year for warning investors of this stock. I mentioned how poor the online reviews were for the company and its products. This is going one way….

In my opinion……

Most of the comments on here are inner thoughts about why someone has or hasn’t invested or what they expect the future to hold. Fair enough. What most are getting wrong, is thinking that if they put in enough time into research that they will be able to predict the future. Unfortunately, that isn’t how the stock market works. To benefit, bizarrely, you have to do the opposite of logic, or “be in the know”.

Knot is very knowledgeable about law. That doesn’t necessarily make knot a reliable forecaster of the future sp, not that they claim to be.

I’m not invested here, however it’s the share I have made my biggest gains on having bought at 220 last year. Therefore, I watch it and try to learn prior to gambling on other shares.

I may buy more here but it won’t be any time soon. I’m waiting for it to go below 220. That may or may not happen ….

Typo £12k in an ISA - not £12, that would be impressive!

I first put money into shares in 2006. I’d emigrated to Oz and had £250k from a house sale in the bank. I lost £30k in about a fortnight by doing everything wrong. Put the money back in the bank and studied the markets for years, having been very fortunate not to be invested for the GFC. In March 2020 I invested in Marstons and other pubs that had collapsed due to Covid. I did the opposite of what logic would say - invested in pubs on the first day of lockdown. I turned £12 in an ISA into £30k. I was still determined to get my £30k back. I bought into CBG in Nov last year and it’s worked well. I also made some profits from BYTES. Since Nov last year I’ve increased £20k to very nearly £30k. Very small amounts compared to some investors here. I’ve got reasonable funds invested in properties but am addicted to the psychology of shares and the media rhetoric that goes with it.

Really appreciate learning from other investors, such as knot and liberty, however, the market doesn’t always follow conventional rules.

At the start of today I was up 54% across all my shares since April this year. When I saw the ftse start to decline around 4pm I chose to sell everything before the closing bell. I think I’ve been lucky. Good luck to those still in the stock market.

A good RNS from both CBG and Lloyds today. This is part of the wrangling with FCA regarding how the redress will work. FCA start with a high payout and banks counter with a statement regarding it being excessive and too costly, without even suggesting any figures. The sp may well go lower than this in the very near term but long term I’m still very confident with my recent purchase. It’s only a loss or profit when you sell.

As I expected, the FCA have communicated poorly and appear to be incompetent. The sp yesterday stood up to the FCA update and I have bought back in. Lloyds have provided an RNS this morning regarding the FCA redress scheme. I think CBG will do well with bigger organisations, like Lloyds challenging the redress scheme. I cannot believe it will remain as it is and in my opinion the sp has not yet adjusted to a more favourable outcome.

I genuinely wish you well with the FCA update today. I had confidence in the Supreme Court’s decision before it was announced. They appear to have integrity and are professional. From my limited experience of observing the FCA make announcements, I have very little confidence in the outcome.

In the longer term I expect CBG will come good and can weather this debacle. However, I’m currently waiting in the wings with funds ready to buy on any significant decrease in the sp.
