Trading Statement tomorrow

Don't understand why the share price has fallen,doesn't make any sense. When JP Morgan issued this statement JPMorgan cuts BT price target to 287 (290) pence - 'overweight'. Also given the dividends that you currently received from BT It's a no brainer the returns are better than any banks are paying in interest.

My prediction of 1.70p is looking good

Also if i were to sell some of my shares to buy into ISA, I would have to pay Capital Gains Tax on the profit that i have made on the shares.

Correct. But to buy into ISA you have to sell your shares and buy them back again which involves dealing charges and stamp duty, Also some brokers charge a management fee. As i said before i have no intention of selling any of my shares.

What i am saying is i receive more income through dividend payments than i would if i put the same amount in cash ISA. As for Capital Gains Tax i don’t pay anything as i am not in the market for selling at the moment.

The dividends i receive is far greater than any ISA’s are paying even after the dividend tax. The wife has ISA’s and what she receives is nothing compared to what my investments in BT are paying. Also there bonus of the share price rising . I bought into BT when the shares were 94p. I think they will make £3 in the next 12 months. Another point is we have two billionaires on board as shareholders so that’s got to be a good positive

Regardless of the results , I am holding on to my shares the money i receive in dividends is far greater than any banks are paying. Interesting thought about price war might be worth a try to build the customer base up more. Another reason for not selling is i don’t want pay Capital Gains Tax now at this higher rate.

That is what i have been thinking for a long time, better place to put your money than any bank given the dividend earning potential, plus any gain in the share price is a bonus. The biggest factor is that BT are nearly at the end of road with the fibre roll out, so it can only get better from now on.

I have to agree with the motley fool, the share is undervalued by a wide margin. Also with dividends that you receive you would have to be a fool not to buy.

Well said. Spot on. Thats why i haven’t traded any of my shares along with the other reason i will be paying more in capital gains tax. I am prepared to sit this government and hopefully the next government whoever it maybe will reduce the capital gains tax and revive the stock market.

Everything is vulnerable with this government nobody has got any confidence in the stock market or this country now.

Investors must hold shares at market close the day before the ex-dividend date to be entitled to the declared dividend from those shares. Shares purchased on or after the ex-dividend date and shares sold before the ex-dividend date will not qualify for that dividend.

Don’t understand the why sell trades are taking place. My understanding is you have to hold the shares by the close of trading today to qualify for the dividend.

Ex Dividend day tomorrow should see a lot of buys hopefully. Onwards and Upwards, my prediction is £2.50 by the spring.

Some big buys took place after the close, and they weren’t UT’s. Looks promising for next week with it being Ex Dividend on the Monday 23rd December. You have to be on the books by the close of business on the 23 to qualify for the dividend. If you buy on the 24th you wont qualify.
