Under the terms of the PSC for OPL 281, Transcorp has committed itself to a work programme to prove and develop an estimated 104 million barrels of oil reserves, an additional 335 million barrels of probable reserves, and approximately four trillion cubic feet (tcf) of natural gas reserves.

I agree with your comments regarding spdc being the dominant supplier to the Afam hub power plants, savannah currently is supplementary. Savannah currently doesn’t have capacity to be anymore than supplementary. However, It would be sensible for any power plant to have an agreement set up with more than one supplier for diversification, even more important if relying on associated gas. As AK has pointed out, the accugas facility as proven itself to be a reliable non associated gas producer, capable to bolt on additional gas trains and has a export pipeline that can handle 600scf/d. Diversification is the key for high plant uptime, Nigeria is lacking infrastructure but save has this! AK has said the CPF should be fully contracted by year end!

What’s also interesting about Transcorp is that they also have an energy division, looking to provide gas production, particularly for their power plants. Whether they reach a gas sales agreement with savannah or not, if they are looking to build gas production in the south east of Nigeria then there’s a high chance they’ll need savannah infrastructure to do it. So one way or another, a partnership / agreement is likely to happen at some point. Transcorp energy will also make a credible partner for the indigenous companies during the marginal field round too. Hoping to hear results shortly. Any credible player looking to develop gas infrastructure will be taken favourably by the government, 2020 is the year of gas in Nigeria.

At about 2:50 the ceo of Transcorp said “we’ll be getting the support of the government to put in place the relevant industrial agreements that are going to be necessary in realising the potential of this plant.”

At 4:50 mins, the ceo says “they’ll be working with the government to commission the Afam 3 fast power plant to bring on the 240mw. “

My research suggests the Afam 3 fast power plant will be near term. It consists of 8 x 30MW trailer mounted generators that have already been rolled in with auxilleries connected. The trailer mounted gensets are designed for fast power, hence the name of the project, although ironically typical Nigerian style this has been ongoing for some time now.

I don’t think Transcorp would take on this project without payment assurance from the government nor would any gas supplier, so let’s hope this government agreements mentioned will include gas a supply payment assurance with Accugas, as the gas supplier. Currently Afam Plc is generating 110mw, an additional 240mw is going to take a lot more gas. In addition, a 5 year plan to build capacity to 996mw!

Still expecting gas to be delivered to FIPL Afam prior to year end. When AK shows he can grow the business and continue to deliver the cash collections the market won’t be able to ignore those cash flows. He keeps on saying “ we are doing what we said we would”, now deliver!

Afam is located in Oyigbo LGA of Rivers State. A relatively small community but is a power generation hub as it plays host to 4 power plants. FIPL’s Afam Power Plant, Shell’s Afam VI Power plant, Government’s Afam I-IV Power plant and the currently on-going construction of the Fast Power Plant. They also are host communities to the Shell Okoloma gas.

The federal government and the Transcorp Power Consortium have signed a share sale and purchase agreement in relation to Afam Power Plc and Afam III Fast Power Limited, which is expected to add 966 megawatts of electricity to the national grid.

Anyone expecting Transcorp to become a new customer?

Thank you. Progress on this is disappointing, hopefully further news soon. It will take savannah from supplying 10% of Nigeria’s power generation up to 15%, offerOMG additional sales of 35mmscf/d on top of long term stable Cash flow already being generated from the 3 significant customers.

Role on the PIB approval, gas has a strong future in Nigeria and savannah has the infrastructure with ready made customers

Can anyone shed any light on the Afam gas sales supply? Is it the pipeline authorisation savannah are waiting for or the connection itself? When is the sales expected to start?

2nd peak in Nigeria’s power generation within 2 days. No doubt accugas’s non associated gas production is leading the way in Nigeria as the dependent gas supplier of choice. Come on AK, grow the business and sign those additional customers. $7/mcf for industrial customers, anyone know the expected tariff for pipeline transmission if another supplier were to use Some of the Export pipeline ullage? With over $1 billion invested in infrastructure and the first marginal field round in 20 years I’m expecting a number of Companies making contracts with save for use of infrastructure. 2021 May still be a difficult year for many Oiler’s, but hopefully a prosperous new chapter for savannah energy.

Siemens are contracted to improve power generation in Nigeria to 7GW in 2021, it would be interesting to know how that is progressing.
