It's not just the aircraft. Lufthansa owned Condor. They know the IT system, condor uses Lufthansa rewards program today. Why would they risk waiting for TC to go bust with Fosun owning 17% are you mad?
Crusty the different parts that make up the airline business are valuable as separate entities. Nothing wrong with selling Condor and keeping the others or sell the UK airline business and keeping the Nordic business.
The Condor business is a major attraction to lufthansa. Have key slot out of lufthansa bases Frankfurt and Munich. The EU will probably block the short haul but the long haul definitely a major attraction. Will TC be willing to sell the airline in parts that's the question. lufthansa will likely make a very attractive offer to get Condor back. The other big attraction for lufthansa is that the acquisition would be a relatively easy undertaking as they know this business having previously owned it. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Condor_Flugdienst
Due to so many parts of the business one can imagine why it's slow to get strategic changes implemented. A long term holder off TC shares. Considering topping up by 5k but undecided to invest before or after the trade update this coming week. Difficult to know what to expect from the Q1 updates but I have a feeling they will fall on the positive side.
Thomas Cook is optimistic about the Sunwing brand in China in part because of its popularity among Chinese tourists at same-brand hotels in Thailand – about 40% of the business there comes from China, Fankhauser said. “The potential is huge” in China, Fankhauser said. “The partner is great.”
"Debs has been diplomatically laying the groundwork with its landlords with months. Butcher the finance director, Rachel Osborne and property director C Bently held a roadshow with institutional landlords to outline their strategy and the rental concessions that are necessary. One landlord said the company was handling the situation with more care than other retailers they have sent with - which should help it side step the legal troubles that derailed HoF planned CVA and precipitated it's collapse. "If they put forward a CVA proposal that is sensible, the majority of landlords would support them because we just want certainty" one institutional landlord said.
I'm holding 145k shares and believe that Debs will have a restructuring plan that is going to benefit shareholders. Keep the faith.
