For those who scoffed at my suspicion that this is an exercise in rigging the future split vote, you can see that only around 27% voted, Those 40 million now swapped were shut out before due to sanctions (the whole reason behind the exchange program) are now much more easily able to cast a future vote as certificate holders than many pis with shares in nominee accounts who's brokers don't allow the voting facility or charge for it.

That potentially increase the potential elevation of able to participate from 27% to 36%. And as the holders of those swapped are (by definition of the sanctions) Russian and therefore more likely to vote against a split trying to preserve what little value the Russian assets have left, it can be seen the probability of nudging the vote against a split is increased.

This is how fixing ballots work. Forget converting the masses, concentrate work on the margin and increasing the margin by bringing in more votes (how Biden won with a few dodgy states).

The only way the company can avoid an FCA investigation with a lengthy share suspension is to announce at the earliest opportunity that a corporate action will be launched on the share split vote so that all retail investors will be alerted and aware of the action and statements for and against will be allowed in any prospectus. It may be appropriate for the company to not advise a preference too.

I knew something was dodgy about this with the increasing number of people with direct vote access with certificates compared to those blocked by brokers. FCA will be monitoring the activity due to the sanctions regime and so the company needs to tread carefully. A few loose canons hell bent on fiddling the vote to suite themselves could sink the entire company.

Actually the first profit point will be the first general cease fire. That will be profit take one. That will collapse amid a breakdown in negotiations as Russia insists it must have territorial gain in return for its war efforts. sp crash, buy in point. Final proposed agreement made, full ceasefire take profits again. Then there will a difficult call of when to buy back as the sp slides from the second spike and a timetable is established for which sanctions are lifted based on certain peace milestones Russia achieves. I expect Russia to be a very difficult country in that respect if there is not fundamental regime change due to losing the war. Also, if POLY u-turns and doesn't split then there will be no buy back in. Companies like POLY will be taxed hard and suffer significant stigma as the reparations and war crime tribunals pad out over the years. A third buy in may not be wise.

But you have to be on the right side if the curve to profit with from the first two spikes.

Not at all. I was answering the spin as posted. There are high casualties on the Ukraine side, not sure anybody anywhere is denying it. They are defending against a large invasion. But the critical bit is just that, they ARE defending and even taking turf back. There are zones of intense conflict, I believe Zelensky himself talked about the east being a hell recently. Maybe the area is unsuitable for the HIMARS and logistics means fresh recruits have to be rushed to the front, to be trained in situ by the very people narrating the interview.

And of course, the Russians are desperate for any gain anywhere and have thrown in huge forces into small battle zones, but still do not proceed. It was noted in the piece the area had many Russian journalists and 'bloggers' there, no doubt in situ to record the glorious victory despite no breakthrough and Russian bodies piling up higher and higher (unreported of course).

Perhaps, Bakhmut is the Russian armies last stand for a flag waving victory. Whatever they achieve, the local population is described as now hating the Russians. Any attempt at occupation now will fail, as in many other areas.

I'm not quite sure what your great slam dunk is with your post, perhaps it is the reference to being filtered so you can do your bit to keep people burying their heads in the sand and not expose themselves to some real world realities.

I think it is verified, all these posted emails claiming to be from the company are fake and lies. The reason for such a large extension of the exchange period is so substantial it warrants an official explanation.

Equal say? How? Nobody got a corporate action notice allowing them to vote with ease. A number of people posted on here they had no facility to vote through their brokers, some brokers would even vote how the broker saw fit rather than how the holders wanted. Some even would have to pay. Hardly equitable with paper holders.

Most investors do not follow in detail all the the shares they hold. They get an email from there broker telling them there if there is something important as a corporate action and then, and only then, do they log in to their account and decide on what action to take. If their is no email, the vast majority won't even be aware there is something substantive - apathy.

If you are a paper holder you will be advised on every opportunity to vote and be able to participate without a broker getting in the way. For those looking to rig the ballot, any way to avoid alerting the retail holder constituency whilst organizing and expanding the paper based constituency based on the probability of how the constituencies might vote, bearing in mind it is often a small number of votes that can swing a win may deliver their desired outcome.

If these people thought the majority of retail holders would support a motion against a split I guarantee all retail holders would have received notice of a corporate action.

As for one person being so saintly on the board, that doesn't apply to everybody. There is clearly a group who do not want a split. Fine. Make your case. The, issue a corporate action so all retail holders get the same access to casting a vote as paper based, then set the acceptance threshold at a level to take into account those who cannot vote assuming they would all vote in one way.

That won't happen though because the anti-splits would simply lose.

The opportunity for a certificate holder is better than a holder via a nominee account. Why would such effort be directed at one particular group rather than to all?

All physical share holders are allowed to send in a vote, but not all other retail brokers will unless there is a corporate action launched - and the failure of the company to do that originally is a key indicator of attempting to manipulate the policy. If the company WAS so concerned about participation as it appears to be about Russian holders then we expect ALL holders to be given the option under the company scheme to swap.

It doesn't matter how some of you try to explain away the policy or try to dismiss it as nothing of consequence but the same issue stands as before. Inequality in the application of the policy wrt what the policy is supposed to achieve.
