if Putin declares war?

Well, if it is all out war against NATO then NATO forces can be green lighted to wipe out the entire Russian army in a few days. Everything we have seen of their performance to date is woeful and they will pose almost no opposition to NATO forces. A handful of HIMARS and a few other bits of NATO kit has caused significant Russian withdrawal and stagnation. So war will be over very soon.

If it is a more localized declaration against Ukraine, it means there is going to be a full mobilization. That means all the comfortable Russians will be drafted (the borders have already been closed and sealed for a couple of weeks) and they and their families will not like that. So the opposition to the war will rapidly grow and the regime in the Kremlin will turn on itself. as the protests overwhelm the security service If a more consilitary regime replaces it then the Russians will be pulled back. Otherwise there will be open civil war and the troops pulled back anyway trying to defend this or that faction - a complete mess.

There is no exit for Putin to remain on Ukraine soil and he has cornered himself with the war, so it is moving to a bloody end.

NATO/UN will go into Ukraine on humanitarian grounds - and then stay there against a Russian threat. Eventually NATO/UN/China will occupy all of Russia to stop a hellish civil war.

I note the number of ramping posters, both loud and subtle, has significantly diminished. Also, the provocateurs looking to create discourse to set up a target to rally the gullible against are also low in numbers.

In my experience, this pump and dump low is to allow analysis of the response to the earlier round and prepare to target and mollify the obstacles to getting the momentum behind the pump hysteria.
