Ryanair plans to increase its flight schedule in June to 80 per cent of pre-pandemic levels as the low-cost European airline banks on summer holidays taking off.

The carrier plans to add 26 routes to its UK summer schedule and will include destinations such as France, Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal, Ryanair said on Wednesday.

Chief executive Michael O’Leary was upbeat on EU and UK vaccination campaigns boosting the chance of travelling again, even though doubts have intensified about a swift return to holidays abroad.

“We are very confident,” O’Leary said on Wednesday, “that, given the success of firstly the UK vaccine rollout programme and subsequently a European catch-up programme, that by June or mid-June, July, August, families will be travelling to and from the UK.”

Ryanair’s summer’s schedule will be about 80 per cent of normal summers, O’Leary said, while passengers could rise to 85-90 per cent of normal numbers in the later summer months.

His comments on the summer potential contrast with the cautious approach of the UK government. Social care minister Helen Whately this week advised Britons not to book summer holidays yet.

Any option that removes quarantine on the return leg for travel will be a positive. However, the antigen test implies a risk of being caught out so is not the big step forward we wanted. Also, the price? Many shysters trying to profit from the pandemic. If airports could get every passenger passing through to hand over twenty quid they will do it. Every extra charge may not be particularly big but the psychological impact is what turns people off.

I am predicting all the right numbers, but not necessarily in the right order.

I speculated that Norwegian might suddenly reintroduce its long haul again. Announcing the intention to withdraw is one thing, selling off the planes and slots is another. How many have they let go? I am not aware of any slots surrended. I will be happy for any link detailing what they have let go so far.
I expect every single seat on every plane to be filled and airlines going hell for leather getting back to capacity in a very short space of time. I expect Norwegian back on long haul by July!!!!!!!!!

Indeed, got an email from them tonight offering to extend my cashpoints to the end of 2022.
"The earning and spending of CashPoints and Rewards on Norwegian airline-related products and services will be temporarily paused from 1 February 2021 until the end of Norwegian's examinership and reconstruction processes. It is still possible to earn CashPoints with Reward partners."

The route map still shows Rio and Buenos Aires, Chicago and Denver.

BA to Linate, straight on the red line to Milan centre for a pizza and coffee with friends does beat Ryanair for the convenience of Linate. It used to be £70-£80 so I am hoping they don't do anything silly with the prices.

Greece has already said it is opening up. It nearly got chucked out of the EU before and I suspect this time they will be keeping their fingers crossed and be out mid-summer. They know which side of their bread is buttered. They got shafted by Brussels fiddling their books to bring the Drachma into the Euro and has been on its knees sucking for credit ever since. Greece is simply going to ignore directives to keep it's boarders closed to people like the Brits. The flight will be longer as planes will be refused clearance over mainland Europe (for a while) but Greece has already set out it's stall. And they have the perfect setup with all those holiday islands. Tunisia, Cyprus, Malta, then the Balearics, Canaries, Cape Verdes' and so on. Israel not so much because it was already a bit eye wateringly expensive. Then there will be the med cruises from ports that you of course have to fly too.
Further afield there is Asia, SEA, [I recommend Kuala Lumpa and Malaysia], the USA [especially Vegas] and so on.

Frankley the EU will simply be sunk against that lot. To which they will be complaining that Brits not going to Europe mainland for holidays is some sort of bigotry racism or something.

Too many in commission see it as a willy waving exercise to score creditability points rather than acknowledging the real world. When Germany decides it has milked the EU of the last drop, then it will implode. The covid issue may be the trigger. The credit crunch was close and Germany still maintains the warehouses full of fresh new Marks ready to split. It will repatriate it's liquid assets first, a process that has been underway since January. Although that theory is still in the conspiracy theory realm, there is enough widespread information over the last 15 years to indicate the Marks WERE definitely printed and German HAS engaged in a process of repatriating it's money from other EU countries. If the UK sends over millions of doses directly to vaccination centres on the continent whilst the commission continues to hold doses back in storage trying to make an issue out of distribution channels, I think that will be enough for independence movements to hit the home run in various elections coming along this year.

And what if this, or that or the other? I advise at all points to never consider what might have been or you will never find karma. If you marked up, great. You cannot change the past so dwelling on it is a distraction that will impact on future dealings negatively.

I could have paid for the bathroom refurb two or three times over if I had bought here, sold there. As it is, about half the cost has been covered, if I sold up now about another quarter would be covered and my original stake money still intact. By April 12th I expect to withdraw a second tranche of profit and be able to say the entire bathroom refit was covered and I will still have my play money left. That will do me just fine.

Me thinks the news on test flights being started up to get travel corridors up and running is having an effect. Need news pictures of planes taking off - -not archive footage but live footage and preferably with the Jack on the tail fin. Although and EasyJ would be acceptable as I hold them. Also, broadcasters, can we have close ups of the RR badge on the engines so you can comment on why allowing overseas holidays is good across the board for UK engineering.

The critical point is the bad division can be written off with little impact on the overall group. The book can be sold reducing that very marginal amount and even if there is a series of claims to payout, there is still more than enough income from the division to offset any claims until the division reports back a profit to the group years hence. As I said before, smart money knows a good thing when they see it and as the word gets around, cheap shares with a very high probability of upside.

I stepped in the shower and a few mins latter all but one of my portfolio goes from red to green. The red one is about 10% up anyway.

If the recovery does get stretched out, the group has a funding framework that works with that. Otherwise if it is a fast recovery, then they don't draw down and cancel the facility a year ahead of time.

Oh Oracle, dear oh deat. Reverting back to the age old mm conspiracy theory's. If you want the advantage over pis, get on CREST, get level 3 consol and off you go. You will find there is no great secret ti it. Just keep a 360 perspective, look for what isn't being said, understand the bias of various institutions, accepted the duplicity and hidden agendas that abound including amongst those that you would trust the most. Simple really.
