These talking heads can not possibly be unaware of the evidence that immediately came out of SA on day two when the doc made the observations, smell and taste remained and only mild symptoms were found.

The tone here is very bad. Clearly the commission is taking absolutely no notice of the evidence coming in from all over the planet about people's level of symptoms with omicron. It's like they think the world population hasn't noticed and they can peddle the same hysterical crap as before. It is blindingly obvious now that the arrival of the variant is being used to reimpose social coercion. Some are reluctant to get involved but with rhetoric now coming out of Europe, it is very problematic to see them all so much out of sync with the real world.

We've seen trouble 't mill already. I think this time round something big is going to snap. Social media is very alive apparently with a backlash building that will spill into the real world.

OK, a quarantine has been imposed instead, but this is a fast U-turn and others might follow. Fiji ignoring travel bans and there may be more on the wire soon. We are expecting the west to do the U-turn, perhaps the pressure will come from elsewhere like Russia, China, middle east and so on. The west isn't leading this variant response by the looks of it. This could get interesting. Will the west retaliate putting travel bans on countries not copying western travel bans? Yet again the virus being used in a political context.

Yes, the knee jerk panic and dismissal of information actually dealing directly with patients does not bode well. The autocrats, especially those tempered by democracy, have found a tool to mess around with people's lives. The gamble is, you book the ticket and then enter the lottery to see if you test positive and therefore have your travel plans smashed. So there will be a deterrent, exactly as before and we all saw how that was used to very deliberately sabotage travel.

I am a bit suspicious about how this variant has been seized as a way to reintroduce travel restrictions. There is something a bit contrived about it especially as all the evidence coming in is that this is just another flu. I've always been suspicious about the environmental lobby and their reach in media, government and quangos to take advantage and exercise sabotage of an industry they irrationally see as a very bad thing.

Jtan, the mass movement for the Christmas break is fast approaching. The governments of the world are going to be facing very severe backlashes if people are not going to be able to book their trips home this year. Will the WHO order an opening up of travel within days? The info from SA is going viral on social media on all platforms from what I hear from friends. It is going global and the big question is why are there travel bans! There is a lot of straw on the camel's back. The key here is mass media. If they don't give the signal that doing a rapid U-turn will be broadcast as a wise and sensible at of good leadership, then vanity and face saving will keep the travel bans in place. This one is all down to vanity again. I think we will know by the 10 o'clock BBC news if there is a U-turn this week. If they lead with the SA info and question the effectiveness of travel bans and use phrases like 'more harm than good' then there is a chance . But it is a big ask and most of the time the mass media are as much about saving their own face and will stick with reporting a heap of lies and crap until a new story comes along.

One of the failures of every new young generation is to believe that all the luxuries like heat, light, power and water just happens by some sort of magic. Designing, building, maintaining it all takes a lot of experience which only comes about through age and many continuing to pass on the knowledge well past retirement age. In deed, it was the Blair's bright young things generation that deferred nuclear power decisions, engaged in a bizzare anti-fracking head bang and left us with the headache to solve now, being dependant on others for our fuel and paying the price. Well the mess and break down of society that will bring is something I will have to live through too, but I will protect my turf - watch me. We'll see how long the 'young' last when the supply chains stop. There is a major collapse of society just a few years away now and looking at what the young generations are coming up with now, I really don't fancy your chances of survival for more than one year. When the water stops coming out of the taps, when the lights stop coming on, when the apples no longer appear in the supermarket [hint, look at the trees in autumn!!!]. I definitely do not agree with these extremely aggressive points of view. I find them to be very dangerous and contrary to law. If somebody doesn't take advantage of the vaccine that is their prerogative and there behaviour should not preclude the rest of society going about it's business. But the flip side of that is true, those wishing to go about their business may not shut away others they don't judge as fit to share the same open space as them.

As far as pensions and future wealth provision goes, families used to look after their own and even aged relatives made a useful contribution to the household. It is actually the utilitarianism of the left that has resulted in aging relatives being manipulated to maintain independence when the families don't actually want that. This is why there is such a sharp rise in equity release, the transfer of wealth is underway well ahead of the reading of the will.
