Apt avatar name, DyamFOOLman!
If something changes by zero percent, you still have what you started with. You must be quite illiterate to not understand what the change refers to. If the sp changes, goes up a penny or down a penny, that is the change. It goes from 142 to 143, or down from 142 to 141. The change is also expressed as a percentage form the original. the percentage change will be + or - 0.7% in this example. If the start price is 142, the end price is 142, the change is 0. Expressed as a percentage that is 0% I have at the end what I have started with. In calculating the final price, if I am told the sp changed 0%, I have the start price, 142 plus the change, 142x0=0, giving me and end price of 142.
I appreciate some of you are trying to find some clever answerback but you are in fact showing a staggering degree of ignorance in maths and especially percentages.
"a zero percent change in share price results in a share price of ... zero!" has got to be one of the most stupid things posted on here. You might as well give up with your silly statements because everybody here can pick up a calculator and prove to them selves;
142x111%=157.62, whereas 142x211%=299.62
However you want to twist it, to rise from 142 to 300 is not the same as the profit. 111% gives the profit, 211% gives the total. And a change of 0% of 1 whole cake, is still one whole cake.
Stop making fools of yourselves.
