Hi 01234 yes any capital gain on holdings within a shares ISA is completely exempt from CGT, so say you were lucky enough to buy 100k shares at 12p last year and sell then for 120p later this year (we can hope!) you could withdraw the whole lot and go and waft it under the taxman's nose and he couldn't touch it.

Mine are mostly in an ISA however I have some in a regular nominee account as well - I will be doing a Bed and ISA on these in April so that if it does get to something amazing like 2 quid it will all be free of CGT!

Hi dallo, think you need to check your source on that one - Xilinx didn't pay anything like that for SolarFlare..was more like $400m I believe. As TL rightly says, the market will dictate the pace of sales .. Ethernity have the strategy and the products in the sweet spot but they can't influence the speed of deployment. The bellweather is China and they are right in the mix with all the majors - I am very much looking forward to an update on the progress there
