Once you buy a gilt, Bot, is the return fixed for the term? I read somewhere that a large percentage of UK gilts have rates linked to inflation?

Thanks Bot, I shall bear that in mind.

On P & O, they have a head waiter who comes round each evening, one each for the main dining rooms, and he will take an order for the next day, lunch and dinner if you wish. He has a sheaf of pages with all the names of those who need what. It works extremely well and Mrs B has never had a problem. All items on the menu are also clearly marked but he will arrange for the “diet chef” to do pretty much anything you ask for.

In the Speciality venues, it’s wise to go sometime before your chosen date so that they can sort you out. Again, never had a problem. The last ting hey want is someone ill on the ship, I guess.

Also, if one happens to be in a suite, the butler brings the main men use for the next day and if you want room service, he/she sorts that out.

For us, it’s one step at a time into new adventures - and not until 4/2027! We had 9 P & O cruises count. Elite on Princess starts at 15. Anyone know how they cope with dietary needs? Medical issue, not a lifestyle choice.

Over the weekend we took a momentous decision - we booked a cruise on Majestic Princess! Only ever been on P & O up to now. The amazing bit was that Princess put us into the Platinum level of their loyalty programme. My guess is that this is a legacy from a few years back when there was transferability between some Carnival lines as it doesn’t happen now.

I am surprised we have got as high as we have, frankly. The Tangoe’d one is as unpredictable - spelt stab you in the back with surprise tariffs - and there do seem to be worries about the US economy. AND he’s trying to fire the Deputy at the Fed, claiming some sort of shady mortgage dealings - by her, not him!

I think we are going to be stuck with this exchange rate for some time.

There’s a reshuffle going on, apparently, both in Miami and here, where P & O and Cunard have both “lost” senior executives. What are the chances of a reorganisation that really cuts into overheads? Less than nil, if that were possible, IMHO. The existing management are too well entrenched.

Bear in mind the CEO of Carnival has a base salary of nearly $25 million 🤬🤬 with share entitlements on top, and you can see why now’ts gonna change.

Still, we have arrived at £21+,and I would expect t current quarter’s results to be better than anticipated. As long as that is reflected in the SP, great! Probably will follow the usual yo-yo pattern though.
