Simon you are correct to a degree I think in that the mud will stick for a while, but not forever. It will also stick longer with media and gossipers than it will with the target customers.
What is interesting is that the media still target Boo with lazy journalism.
The latest non story you refer to is a case in point.
An official legal case hasn't been started, there is no precedent in law for any such case and it relates to a time before Boo published its ESG programme. In short it's another non story
What is also telling is the difference in treatment between Boo and any other fashion company. Certainly in 2017 Boo was not the only company using Leicester. The language used on Boo is certainly far more extreme than Shein is getting at the moment.
The good news for Boo is that, should Shein list, the media suddenly have a far bigger and dirtier target. Which surely can only be good for Boo.
I also wonder how many of these stories would make the media if they weren't being fed.
