Doing fine chaps and hope you both are fit and well. Have confidence here and am happy with holding for divi in the future as atm nowhere gives a better return on investment. Interesting times ahead as who knows what will happen if there is a take over bid. I sold barcs a few years back at 255p but still watch the board as I think barc could be a sleeping giant. When the USA gets its act together Lehman's may end up being a seriously good payer. SUF, enjoy reading your posts , you are in good company with other informative posters on that BB. JD as usual your moves look very well timed and shrewd, I must pay more attention. However still nicely in profit with MRW and by the crowd at their Skipton store think the future bodes well. To you both have a good w/end, Toure de Yorkshire comes past our village Sunday so may get armed with brolly and take a look. GL for next week and ex divi date.

Good evening Jack/ fruitster. Cheers for good points. MRW have said "not less than 5p+ divi next year" so this could end up being 6 7 or 8p. Im happy to hold for the medium term as I see MRW being a good payer in the future. ( The 3p divi to every £1 of share value scenario again) Where else can you get that? Seen a site called " topyield" which has MRW at the top of the list and makes Morrison's look cheap ATM. When I visit my local store you can feel the optimism coming off the staff, confidence returning. I keep saying this but with their low debt, owning own stores, healthy pension, they really are in a good position. The new store that fruitster made us aware of is a gem. Slow steady sustainable growth is the order of the day now, no rash building or delving into other areas eg. electrical or white goods. I do feel for the Tesco holders. The company has now more debt than its actual worth, very worrying indeed. Reminds me a bit of Lloyds Bank that I got involved in for quite a few years and was glad to extricate myself from. Tesco will come good but a lot of time hard work needed. Some tough decisions to be made there yet me thinks. To finish I just think Morrison's is a good solid sound company that gives me no worries. The most unused tar-mac in Skipton? the now not so new Aldi car park with only 1/4 of spaces taken. In the next five to ten years I can see Aldi suffering from its rapid building program. I don`t know how this store is in profit, if it is. Where as the Morrison`s store yesterday morning had, I estimate, over 3/4 of spaces taken. Not bad for a Monday. This store is doing something right. There must be other MRW stores around the country with the same popularity and this I think bodes well GL all.

Still think Barclays will do ok especially when Lehman's starts to earn its keep. Like you I am keeping a weathery eye on its present sp as its long overdue another assault on £3. Also had a dabble in lloy, boy what a basket case. Got out of that money trap a while ago. AHO awarding himself £11 million for paying 3/4 of a penny divi. beatrootjuice, Hotten just below 190 is a price I have targeted for divi top up. Not sure we will get there though as sp is due a positive move. Would have thought the nearer we get to 9.6p divi date the more it will rise,we`ll see.

Good evening, I sold some of my holding a while back just so I can top up if they retrace. 189p is my target as this would deliver a 10p profit per share. It was done as a bit of insurance but feel it may not get there, we`ll see. Fruitster what ever happens now you will get nearly 10p for 196p, can`t be bad. I agree with you that the long term hold looks good, just keep picking up the divi. JD Have you had any thoughts about topping up? I know you have recently made some shrewd sales and wondered if you thought they are becoming a tad cheap. With lloy paying .75 of a penny or 1p for every£1 owned it makes MRW look good at £2 paying at least 5p next year. Interested in your thoughts ATB both and all.

I have now talked to a main manager at the Riverside store. Never has there been a time when store run out of potatoes. "Stock levels go up and down due to customer numbers and time of week". " There is always meat on the refrigerated shelves sealed in their packaging. The butchers counter closes earlier than the store due to customer numbers falling and meat being a perishable item." The manager was going to read your post as he felt your comment was unjust. Whether he will contact you I don`t know. Personally I don`t understand your reasoning behind the post, sensationalism perhaps? Anyhow the manager was very upbeat about his store and felt new CEO was lifting the gloom that has surrounded MRW. He said " Morrison's is a sure bet and will only get better" Quite an interesting chap actually and I hope he becomes a poster. GL all.

Good evening JD, I suppose a good incentive for purchase is the 9.6p divi that comes with it. Am I correct? Easy money and showing he knows when he`s on to a good thing. Visited Skipton store again today and it was very busy as usual. CEO should visit this store and find out what they are doing right because what ever it is, its working. Hi Nonserviam, Study the fundamentals, low debt, owning own stores, maintaining divi although reduced next year to NO LESS THAN 5p so could be more but not less, new CEO who seems to have hit the ground running, M+M Cards gaining popularity, and sales improving (0.4 % ) over xmas. Of course DYOR. A lot of people feel confident with MRW here. MRW has been heavily shorted recently but I think some have lost considerably by doing this. May drop after x divi date but long term a payer. People have to eat. GL to you .

Asbury, ah with you. Am I right in thinking it is not an actual monetary loss though, only a more accurate property value? A fair bit out I may add.

Read the link and still find it a bit puzzling ie the impairments. The property they own has been over valued by up to £2 billion but I don`t see this as a loss unless they sold the property. If my own home drops by 10% its only a loss if I now sell. If I keep hold there is no fiscal loss. Could it be MRW are using property asset value drop as a means to reducing tax burden? I am not to clued up on company accounting tactics but believe there is reason board have downgraded Property value. Maybe to stop being accused of Tesco shenanigans. Reading between the lines I see a recovering company getting back to being engaged with customers who are returning. Tiring of the discounters lack of choice / quality IMHO. Lets see what new CEO manages in the next few months, going to be interesting. GL.
