peekayokay - The alternative argument is that the funding has been the trigger for the start of the re-rate and so you are already starting to see offset of the dilution. It's a chicken and egg situation. The main reason that the SP was down in the 30's was uncertainty over funding and the longer that uncertainty continued, the greater the drag on the SP. Even with all of the good news, I don't think it would have risen into the 50's until funds were raised. Also don't forget, nearly £4m of the proceeds from the fundraise were used to buy Axela. I believe that they are using Axela's tech. in the optimisation of the ovarian cancer study. It would be a risky strategy to hold off on funding in the hope that the SP may rise and miss the opportunity to secure Axela's IP and hold up the ovarian cancer study. All IMO only of course.

The forthcoming US based ANG-002 studies run by MD Anderson have been designed to provide the FDA with data they require to support approval of the Parsortix system. More details are given in the Annual Report. I don't think it's usual for companies to disclose details of FDA advisory meetings with shareholders. You may get some who announce the date of a formal pre IND meeting or perhaps a CEO/CSO who mentions meetings with the FDA in passing during presentations but that's about it. So I wouldn't expect ANG to make any announcements re. any meetings/discussions they have held. I take your point that it's easier with bios such as MTFB to understand the timescales to FDA approval and assume AGL will give more information in due course. The only thing I would say is that this is new territory for the FDA - the Parsortix system will be the first ever system for harvesting CTCs for analysis to receive approval from the FDA (if successful). So it's not a well trodden path and predictions are therefore that little bit more difficult.

Max, I noticed some posts from you over the weekend comparing MTFB and VAL and thought it would be better to reply on this board. The two companies are a world apart on just about every level. You simply can't compare a bio that has funded and completed two successful phase III trials, involving over 1200 patients with one that is awaiting results from a phase I/IIa study on 8 patients. I would also add that MTFB owns 100% of the IP for Iclaprim as opposed to the 55% (soon to be 46% and thereafter ?????) that is VAL's stake in VAL401. MTFB is as derisked as a pre-revenue bio can get and whilst VAL has promise, it has a long and very expensive road to travel to get to the same stage. IMO it is misleading to use VAL's market cap to justify a higher valuation for VAL - much better to try and find other bios awaiting the results of first in human studies in the field of oncology. The sector needs as many good news stories as possible to attract investment so I wish you all the best in VAL.

The link below gives a step by step guide though the process (follow steps 1, 2 & 3 tabs on left). In a nutshell, the route to approval depends on whether the device is classified as Class 1, 2 or 3. I assume that the Parsortix System would be Class 3 and requires premarket approval. Stuart Martin from University of Maryland School of Medicine recently presented his findings from a study using the Parsortix system. The research used live CTCs captured by Parsortix and in real-time assessed their response to different drugs being passed over them. The hope is that in real time they can work out which drugs the patient will respond to and which they won't and so can stop metastasis in its tracks. This line stood out:- "Longitudinal analysis of 4 patients over time who had serial CTC assessments showed changing biological characteristics of CTCs isolated at different time points during treatment and disease progression. " This is so important, the Parsortix system produced the same results as the initial tissue biopsy, but it also detected changes in the patient's cancer over time. A new article on the Philips collaboration was published yesterday (link below). Perhaps it's just me, but I think the article describes the commercial prospects from the project in a much clearer way than the RNS. ""It certainly is the aim that new technological approaches and tests in liquid biopsies and MRI-based feature analysis, and possibly their combination, developed as part of the LIMA project, will be made available for clinical use," said Hans Hofstraat, innovation program manager at Philips." Big pharma are investing heavily in immunotherapy and targeted oncology treatments - identifying and targeting proteins expressed on the tumour cell surface. The race is on to replace chemo and secure first line treatment in as many cancer types as possible but at the moment only about 20% to 40% of patients respond. So far from losing money, pharmaceutical companies have much to gain by being able to match treatments with patients based on protein expression. This all plays directly into Angle's hands. I'm absolutely certain that the use of CTC liquid biopsies will become a standard part of cancer diagnostics, treatment and monitoring in the future and the potential market is huge. Whether Angle and the Parsortix system succeed in capturing a chunk of that market remains to be seen but they're off to a good start.

Yes, sounds very encouraging. Breast cancer trial sounds like it's just waiting for ethics committee approval and he seemed confident about results by end of June or earlier. Parsortix currently being used for research into over 20 different cancers!

Yes, another really interesting piece of research. Will try and find the link, but I recently read a review that described CTC liquid biopsies as looking for a needle in a haystack, but the problem is, once you start looking you find loads of other needles that you didn't want and white blood cell contamination is an issue. So good to read about the high level of purity achieved by Parsortix and fantastic to read this statement from Prof. Zeillinger:- " ANGLE's ParsortixTM system addresses key limitations of other approaches for CTC liquid biopsy" This research also ties in with the recent evaluation by Yvonne Maertens from University Hostpital Muenster who compared different CTC liquid biopsy systems. Her findings on purity/white blood cell contamination were:- Leukocyte contamination When analyzing the purity of the recovery samples, we found few remaining leukocytes in the Parsortix harvest (Figure 2A). The highest contamination of leukocytes was found in the Ficoll/CD45 sample. Little contamination was detected in the RosetteSep� system. The EpCAM system harvest contained very high numbers of magnetic beads bound to the tumor cells, making an estimation of contaminating leukocytes impossible. Good stuff.

Have just noticed your post from Saturday. Volition are working in the liquid biopsy field but they are developing a system to capture circulating nucleosomes. These are fragments of DNA and proteins released from dying cells into the blood. Angle's Parsortix system captures whole, live tumour cells which have broken away and are circulating in the blood. As you can imagine, more information can be taken from a whole, live cell and they also can be grown in the lab. I'm sure both systems will ultimately find their place and be successful, but to answer your question, no, they are not in direct competition with Angle.

Yes, if you look back at the RNS's released over the last 2 or 3 months, there really has been significant news flow with 2 multi-billion dollar companies (Qiagen and Philips) forming partnerships with Angle - tremendous validation for the Parsortix system.
