More impressive results from researchers using the Parsortix system, this time into ARV7 expression on prostate cancer cells. Good to see Angle highlighting the advantages of the Parsortix system over other liquid biopsy systems. Firstly, ctDNA liquid biopsies such as Illumina's Grail which has received so much attention simply can't be used for ARV7 analysis. Secondly traditional antibody-based CTC systems only capture epithelial cells and would miss the CK negative mesenchymal cells that were found to be ARV7 positive. Dr Amin El-Heliebi, Principal Investigator, Medical University of Graz, commented: "Use of the Parsortix system has, for the first time to our knowledge, made it possible to investigate the number of cells expressing the ARV7 transcript as a proportion of the total number of CTCs and for the first time it has been possible to investigate the number of ARV7 transcripts on a particular cell. This approach may allow us to improve clinical performance in this key area of prostate cancer treatment." Yes, as far as I can tell, Redx aren't making any formal presentations. Worth a quick google of J P Morgan Healthcare Conference to understand the scale of the thing. It's the biggest and most important investor conference of the year and San Francisco will be invaded by thousands upon thousands of biotech./pharma company execs., investors, analysts, journalists etc. The main event is the JPM conference itself but there are 2 or 3 other major conferences that run alongside (Biotech Showcase is one) and then loads of other, smaller ancillary events. For companies like Redx, it will be an endless round of running from one meeting to another, networking, encouraging new investors and getting their name out there followed by evenings spent attending as many evening receptions as they can. JP Morgan is also used as a barometer of industry sentiment and to identify the most important trends and issues facing the sector over the coming year. It's good to see Redx attending.

"Iclaprim met the primary endpoint Iclaprim was well tolerated in the study There were no study-drug related TEAEs related to nephrotoxicity in patients treated with iclaprim compared to three reported cases of acute kidney injury in patients treated with vancomycin. " Sort of sums up the case for both FDA approval and commercial success.

While it's quiet, Angle get a nice little mention in this article which was published yesterday:- "Some of the most exciting advances have come in the field of cancer – medical devices firm Angle has produced a new analysis showing that its liquid biopsy device Parsortix could be used instead of conventional tissue biopsies. I guess next news will be surrounding Redx's porcupine inhibitor, RXC004. The trial has already been approved by the MHRA and should be starting in Q12018 so hopefully some news in the not too distant future. A couple of other items to watch out for. The first is the Gram-negative antibiotics programme. We know that Redx don't intend to develop this programme now and are looking to license out the IP. So a license agreement could come out of the blue at some stage. Perhaps more interesting though is the collaboration agreement with AstraZeneca. The project commenced in 2014, no details of the molecules being developed have been disclosed but headline results are due in Q1 2018. Would be great if they have identified a candidate to be taken into trials. Worth remembering the terms of the agreement:- "Redx Pharma will receive an undisclosed upfront payment. In addition, Redx Pharma is potentially eligible for significant development and commercial milestones, as well as tiered royalties as the programme progresses. AstraZeneca will have the sole rights to further develop and commercialise any programme resulting from the collaboration to add to its portfolio of cancer medicines."
