The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
It Could it was going to operate at full capacity withdrawing and injecting all the time, but it wont.
It will do a full summer winter cycle but opportunities for shorter term flex are limited.
All MRS this year 103 days:
Net withdrawal, 78 days and 1687 mcm or 21 mcm/d
Net injection, 25 days and 377 mcm or just 15 mcm/d
There is not the opportunity to full cycle the 20MCM on a regular basis.
If you inject in summer at 50p and sell in winter at 60p
450MCM or 176,578,372 therms the revenue is 17.5 million.
wholesale of this gas is £88 million to buy and sell at £106 million there are 183 days in a season so I don't know wher you get 3.5 from.

We would like to inform all investors that despite some delays, the water isolation plug and packer assemblies that were shipped from America have been delivered today to our site at Brockham. #ANGS
Europe gas stocks are very full, but this often happens following a year when they almost empty the previous year,. At the start of winter operators are reluctant to use the storage for the cold spell which might turn up at the end of February.
The last time this happened was 2014, that summer they filled rough beyond its capacity, bringing about its decline.
The doubling of the LNG coming to Europe is the major difference last winter it was the marginal unit of supply, now it has moved almost to the bottom of the supply stack as all that new capacity built in the US looks for the most liquid market where it can offload the temporary excess.
This afternoon, not this morning
You might be able to decarbonise power I the next 15 years. We are not going to decarbonise heat. 60 GWh of gas will be used to make electricity 240 GWh will be used to heat our for domestic heating and cooking. That's just today.
No gas is currently fracked.
Renewables might surpass gas the dominant energy source in 30 years. Energy and electricity not the same.

Interesting, Ineos have been investing in the Keuper gas storage which i have only just heard of but its further down the line than INFA.

After putting this in the last trading update,
"The significant adverse impact on the business during the second half of FY18, as a result of the delay in announcement of the Group's results for the year ended 31 July 2017 ("FY17") and temporary suspension of the Company's shares from trading. The operational and commercial impact was greater and more far-reaching than the Board had expected and, as a result:"
Surely they cant miss the deadline again.
Your first post was a year ago today. Very accurate
Cheer up Geoff its Christmas
There has been a solid buyer there for the last ten days, is someone building a stake.
Why am i on the BB?
It was tight, but sendout from LNG could of been higher. The problem was a lack of storage, not a lack of LNG.
It would of been much worse if it wasn't so windy. If it was no wind and that cold we would of needed a further 40MCM of gas for power. And that would of taken us to full capacity.
The three LNG terminals have a capacity of 125MCM/d. This month when we have had the most LNG since 2011 capacity max sendout has only been 70MCM. It didn't get higher than that during the Beast from the East.
Unless they plan to use the LNG as a transport fuel in Ireland but there is no infrastructure or demand for this yet
The UK has massive overcapacity at its three LNG terminals. There is no need for a FRSU in the UK.
