1. I am not offering Bluewater or Dr T advice , I very much doubt that they look on here when planning courses of action . If Aduk , me or you knew better than Dr T then it is unlikely we would speculating on this forum .

2. I have never called myself an Oiler , or Oiles as you call it . People who have worked in the industry don't use those terms - ever .

3. When I did work in the the UK Oil industry , I was paid very good money , so I guess that's makes me a professional by definition , whether you agree or not matters very little , and you trying to cast some sort of doubt on my competence matter even less , to me anyway . Shak , you do not un-couple in 7 m , not 17 m , you stay put and produce - that is the safer option ---- when the plant up and producing it at its safest . When it is shut shut down , then bringing it back on line is when most vulnerable .

The weather is reducing - the Solan ( Closest to Lancaster ) has 6.5m waves (8m waves last night)_with a 31kts wind ( 65-70 kts last night ) . Weather ( Meteo Group ) looks ok Thursday morning for 12 hrs and all weekend for hooking up .

Rangers - they will not do boat to boat crew changes if that's what you mean - no frogging , billy pugh or boat-to-boat allowed in the uk sector .

The 5 hrs scheduled trip may be including a refuel in Wick , one would assume that the AM does not have refuelling capability yet for whatever reason - no big deal. Later flights from Aberdeen have a 4 hrs duration , refuelling offshore .

If those flight go ahead then it looks like a crew change scheduled as you suggested ( extra marine guys off , and TN guys on ??? , with maybe the CEO and Company Man ) - this could happen if she is sheltering from weather somewhere close to the Shetlands - and IMO the AM will be required to virtually stop - yes they can land on moving ships but the chopper companies do not generally like doing it unless needs must (the pilots love it) .

I do not see Aberdeen as a refuelling stop for the AM as some suggested , IMO she will be full to the gunnels leaving Rotterdam .

All speculation though - interesting to see how things pan out in the next 48 hrs .

SXX , lol . - I think the issue is obvious --- if peeps look on Marine Traffic --- The FPSO has reversed over the Smit Hudson and is currently parked on top of her , per-chance it will take another couple of hours to recover the Tug and get it dried out , hopefully no check no damage to our thrusters .

topteam - correct, the thrusters will not be used to hold the vessels position in bad weather , they may be used when offloading to the tanker or at least during the approach .
" unlatch and head for shelter is an option " - yes in theory but it would be one MF of a storm for them to do that - she is better equipped to deal with weather than the schiehallion was , or the Foinavon who stayed / stay put and on the same spot for decades .( although neither have the capacity to unlatch ). - not sure about Q204 but doubt we will see it unhook and head for the Shetlands when the wind gets up .
