Fairly old news but isn’t as much of an issue as it sounds for most cruise lines. I have probably sailed to/from Barcelona about 8-10 times and never docked at the affected berths. Most cruise lines already use the other area which is about a 10 min shuttle trip.
I always pay for drinks as I go. About 18 months ago I had to start paying Spanish VAT on purchases within 12 miles of their coastline. I now get around this by having the drinks charged to my account the day before we get into Spanish waters, therefore nothing “going through the tills” when in Spain. I suppose when paying for a package in advance the items need to go through the tills at nil cost at the time they are served which is what generates the VAT liability.
It’s been confirmed we are docking in Amsterdam at 5:00pm today.
Much better night in the casino last night - recovered half of my losses from the past two weeks. Now two nights with casino closed (oh, what might have been!)
Just have the last night to try to get back where I started - just like CCL share price since I have been away.
Thanks Bhants.
My understanding is we will be going into Amsterdam as the ban hasn’t started yet - I guess I will find out tomorrow!
Didn’t go ashore today but we were given instructions on how to bypass the checking in process if we did. Very relaxing few hours on board with about 6 other guests.
Bots, looks like we have both had a disastrous time in the casino. Just finished 14 nights on QV and didn’t do too well in the casino. Still sat on board in Southampton staying further 4 nights to Amsterdam and back. Only consultation is the casino is only open on 2 of the 4 nights so could go either way!
Currently on QV on our way to Barcelona. No sign of any additional discounts on here so maybe the “premium brand” is holding up better than others in the Carnival group.
Could have been worse.
Looks like they are attempting to preserve cash as this is the only metric which shows an improvement.
Loss per share 0.7 against positive 2.7 last year is a concern but, in my opinion, not enough to justify the reduction in share price in 12 months.
Let’s see what the market thinks.
Been sat here hoping it will drop to allow me back in - not sure it will happen!
Meanwhile, This morning I bought back some of the TUI I sold last week, paid £4.96 (sold last week @ £5.33& £5.47. Also STJ bought @ £8.61 (ex div) will get 15p divi on those I didn’t sell, which I sold @ £8.97
Off to Chepstow races now so will see how things go when I get back this evening!
Sounds more interesting than my Med trip at the end of next week!
Enjoy.
Bot, I guarantee whatever decision you make you will wish you did the opposite.
When do you go on your cruise?
Bot, British Bulls are saying SHORT at 1107, so probably best to sit it out and see what happens which is what I am doing.
Bot, I’m not in IAG but the other three you mention I sold at least 50% of my holdings in each at the end of last week, like you thinking they would probably all go lower.
CCL @ 1110
TUI @ 547
JET2 @ 1075
So all hovering very close, but no idea where they will go next.
With some of the proceeds I topped up on 888 which is doing a bit better, so I am comfortable with the decisions at the moment - let’s see where they all are when we return from our cruises!
Not good but could have been worse.
At least we only have a week to wait for full results which will put more meat on the bones.
Based on recent performance it may be worth waiting until a couple of days after results!
Bot, my experience of funds is similar to what you describe.
I have been in six actively managed funds for the past 18 months with the following outcomes as of today.
Fund 1 -7.81%
Fund 2 +6.78%
Fund 3 -14.93%
Fund 4 -2.55%
Fund 5 -7.98
Fund 6 +3.87
All of them have lost 4-5% in the past week, So they can also move as much as shares.
Yes
Bot, you get paid the dividend if you own the stock on ex dividend date.
Bot, if I was you I would just switch off, go on the cruise at the end of the week then take stock when you get back. What would be worse, losing out on some upside or facing some big drops when you return? It’s like 32 coming in when you put a smaller bet on it -Sod’s law!!
Bot, my wife has not been in a casino since an episode we had about 20 years ago. We had been out for Sunday lunch in a nice restaurant and about 5:00 pm we went to the casino (which she was never keen on). I was playing roulette and she was sitting around being plied with free drinks. There were to screens all around the casino where various sports were being shown. Suddenly, the theme tune for coronation street was booming out around the casino. My wife isn’t in to sport and, in her drunken stupor, convinced a waiter to give her the remote - bad decision. That was her last visit to the casino and I was ribbed for years by the regulars.
On ships after dinner I go to the casino and she takes a (very) large Remy XO back to the room and we are both happy!!
Bot, I presume you will continue to “invest” in 32, which I will be doing in a couple of weeks.
