Was at Chepstow Races yesterday and see William Hill have taken over the betting shop from BritBet. Interesting to know if thy have taken over all BritBet franchises across the country - that could see a good increase in revenue..
Sorry that was such a long message luckily for you I ran out of characters.
One very important positive I forgot to mention - I won a couple of grand in the casino.
The issues were mainly cruise specific although food and entertainment were constantly being criticised by passengers.
We failed to dock at two ports due to weather and “medical issues” - twice we were diverted to accommodate helicopters to recover I’ll patients, plus another diversion to off-load another passenger onto a pilot boat.
The first occasion was during the night after our departure from our first port (LaCoruna) which was, by the way, on a bank holiday with most shops/attractions closed, so not a well planned itinerary)
At two am the captain broadcast that a helicopter would arrive in half an hour. An hour later he advised that the helicopter had aborted the mission and that we would be turning around and head back to LaCoruna. At around 7:00 there was another broadcast saying conditions had improved and the helicopter would be returning. This time the pick-up was successful. This caused an 8 hour delay and poor conditions in the Atlantic meant we would miss our next port (Bermuda) which was supposed to be a two night stop.
Another health issue the following day dictated that we were required to make another diversion - believe it or not to Bahamas, we offloaded the passenger onto a boat at exactly the time we were originally due to depart.
We booked four trips but three of them were cancelled due to various reasons and the one we did didn’t live up to expectation.
Our last port was due to be Ponta Delgado. The prior evening the captain announced that, despite rumours to the contrary, conditions were excellent and we will definitely be calling at Ponta Delgado - guess what- 45 minutes before we were due to dock, with land clearly in view, about 300 metres away, another announcement - visit aborted due to high winds and we would be making our way back to Southampton.
A day later he advised that he had organised a 6 hour visit to LaCoruna. This went well.
The morning after we left LaCoruna another I’ll passenger had to be air-lifted and we would need to divert to accommodate this.
At least we docked in Southampton on time but -another but. We were in the first group to disembark which was delayed by over an hour with many passengers becoming almost mutinous totally disregarding instructions which resulted in the process being halted a few times.
The original itenary included Key West which was deleted (and not replaced) about 6 months ago. In total we missed three of the 11 planned ports. On the way out we docked on one of the eleven days and a half day on the return 11.
The further spanner in the works was, after docking at 6:00 am in New Orleans, the ship was not fully cleared by immigration until 5:15 in the afternoon. Luckily it was a “two day visit” Those who had booked a trip were off early in the morning but those of us who hadn’t had to suffer hours of delay to go through immigration.
So, all in all, mainly cruise specific issues but major problems with food and entertain
Just back from 5 weeks on Ventura (not a great experience) and good to see a steady 6% rise in that time.
Looking for that momentum to continue up to and beyond results.
Bots,
I was £8k up day three now £800 up.
Not been down at any point so far but I’m sure that will change soon!
Hi all,
Just checking in after a few weeks as I knew Bots was due back about now and was interested to know how he fared in the casino.
I’m currently on day 8 of 35 on Venture heading across the pond. Few hundred up in the casino but a long time for that to change!
We were supposed to have the next two days in Bermuda but cancelled due to a medical emergency (had to re-route back towards Spain before a helicopter managed to find us in thick fog on its second attempt) and very rough seas slowing us down.
Maybe we will see £14 by the time I get back.🤣
CCL now have a company which processes claims called Stockperks.
They are now making the process much more difficult and there is conflicting information regarding when you should claim.
It now takes considerably longer to go through the process. As it’s an American company, one thing which caught me out was the date format month/date/year and it took me a while to realise what I was doing wrong.
All In all, a very frustrating and much longer process.
Anyone else used this company yet and had similar experiences?
Topo,
Got on yesterday after you got off.
Just 4 nights Hamburg and back. I always spend a lot of time in the casino and, whilst it was slightly busier than my previous QV cruise in October, they still struggled to keep two roulette tables open. So it may have been the Xmas/new year celebration passengers who kept the casino busy.
Can someone help me with the maths on that £3m buy.
I calculate the sp @ £1.014 if you divide the quantity by £3m.
Bot,
I read that earlier which is great news.
Just hoping I can get somewhere near that on my 4 nights if our favourite number also comes in for me.
The worst i will do is give them their $3k back and then stop (if I can!)
QV just 4 nights Hamburg and back. It’s a long story but not costing me anything and, on top of that, I have $3k free casino play, I play the same numbers as Bots so hoping I get his recent luck as we have both not done too well on other cruises this year.
Ventura 35 nights from Southampton and back via Spain, taking in Bahamas, Gulf of Mexico including 2 days New Orleans plus other east coast ports and Azores on the way back.
“Offering”, not ordering.
TOPO, we are booked on QV in January and also Ventura in Feb.
Been offered the upgrades as you state. In both cases we have suites booked, but not the highest grade.
When I took it a step further there was no availability for the higher grades so I can only presume they expect cancellations and will get back to you if/when this happens rather than the previous practice of ordering a free upgrade under these circumstances.
The bid was rejected before the new CEO was appointed.
I am a LTH and am struggling to understand how 5 month old news is generating so much interest.
It may have been a UT but someone had the confidence to buy even if someone else was “getting out”
Interesting £1m buy after the close!
Bhants.
Did you watch the chancellors statement today?
Said he was considering selling off the government’s shares in Nat West.
Not sure that will be good news for existing shareholders like you in the medium term.
Bot,
As you predicted, It went down but just not quite far as you thought - now on the way back up again, let’s see if it holds!
Bhants.
I currently have 2 P&O and 2 Cunard cruises booked.
Had four (I assume one for each cruise) emails over the weekend stating same.
