They did have a potential buyer at one stage. It did drag on for quite a time. Not sure if we have ever been told that they are no longer interested.

Now seen a second ad - more like trying to get new customers on board.

Quite an interesting approach running both ads - almost like good cop, bad cop.

Just saw an 888 ad on ITVX.

Very bright colours which drew you in but it was more like an ad from the regulator pointing out all the negatives of gambling.

They must be trying reverse psychology!

AParky, remember it well. The problem in those days was the black box was quite thin and was regularly prized open for the cash then the phone was out of order for a few weeks until it was repaired.

I quite like the chicken pies as well. Usually leave the casino about 11:45, just before the buffet closes, have up to 6 of the mini pies (no mash) then back to the casino. On my last cruise I took about a dozen pies back to the casino for fellow gamblers and dealers only to be told the dealers aren’t allowed to eat them on duty. There were a couple of pies left which one of the dealers took back to the crew quarters. She told me the next day that it was one of the better midnight snacks she had had!

I was thinking the same thing earlier today. Hope there aren’t bigger issues which we don’t know about.

A lot of people thought we were about 5. We were both actually all of 18 years old - so 68 at the moment. Nowhere near needing a rocking chair at the moment. The alcohol normally gets me to sleep especially the free ones in the casino!

Our first cruise was 1999 (our 25th wedding anniversary), two weeks Caribbean on Dawn Princess. Then Oriana/Sea Princess/Arcadia/ QM2 about 10/12 in total until 2008. Then moved to Spain until 2016 and only did one cruise in that time, that was our only Celebrity cruise. Since returning we have done/ got booked around 20 more mainly on Cunard. As I said earlier, we are on Ventura next Feb/March when we will be celebrating our 50th. Where did that time go? I usually do better in P&O casinos so hoping to cover some of the costs, or at least our bar bill!

Hi Bants, good to hear you enjoyed the larger ship - we have always preferred the smaller ones. Our all time favourite was Oriana and the old Arcadia - we did it’s last ever cruise as a P&O ship through the Panama Canal then back to Southampton via Caribbean about 20 years ago. We went on Aurora a couple of years ago but didn’t think it was as homely as Oriana. Last couple of years we have been on a few Cunard cruises, QE, QV and QM2. Our favourite is QV. We have been spoilt with Queens Grill and find it difficult to go back to others. We are on QV next month. Then in Feb on Ventura for 5 weeks, we booked it over two years ago , before we really discovered how much we liked Cunard. My wife really isn’t keen but we will try it and see what happens. We did 4 nights to Amsterdam on Ventura about a year ago just to check we had made the right decision for the longer cruise, it was ok but does not compare to QV. Ventura is the biggest ship we have been on and don’t think we will go larger any time soon. But will continue to see what other people say.

I’m in agreement with you Dave. Also been buying but not managed low 18’s yet although I was selling in 19’s and 20’s and am looking to replace them. My reference to TA was to try and judge how much credence people give to it.

When I questioned it with my broker last year I was told that it was something to do with the fact that, following the takeover, they traded mainly within the UK therefore share purchases were subject to Stamp Duty.

Only problem is every one of their “Buy” signals in the past six months have been wrong. That said I have bought a few this morning thinking they can’t always be wrong (or can they?) fingers crossed!
