Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
Exactly peregrine. Combine that with what our CEO said: fair value for the lifetime of the patents. Long term holders had an edge in the chaos of yesterday because we remember what he said. Now if you trust tenner, and let’s face it he’s done nothing not to earn our trust (track record of underpricing and over delivering) then what would you do?
Yesterday was a hectic but exciting day. 1 stock sits in my portfolio now, solidified some pretty big and long standing losses too, but this is only heading one way in the next 30 days. I genuinely feel the market hasn’t got a clue, and I’ve put my money where my mouth is.
Morning all,
Now the dust has settled and the traders have moved on, I was wondering if we could discuss some of the following factors that sit behind the settlement. Of course just educated guesses at this stage but would be interested to know your thoughts.
1. We know the settlement is no fault, do you think that the agreement will also cover those that have been complicit eg Nanosys/Hansol etc? I’m guessing so else it does leave Samsung exposed via the back door if not.
2. What do you think of the concept that Samsung may have requested exclusivity of usage rights? And what sort of impact might that have on our licensing agreement going forward? To me, this seems logical as Samsung has opened up a sizeable market share of the high end market, and deemed to be a price worth paying…
3. In the event of a large settlement, making Nano cash rich in the short term, so we see a special divi in the offing for holders?
4. With our patents in essence validated, and our product at work in Samsungs TVs, do you think we will see growing interest in our products?
Thanks in advance and wishing all holders a great weekend.
It takes a lot to surprise me in terms of the markets but today’s price action certainly has.
It speaks of the absolute lack of real in depth knowledge the market has of what has happened e today. Traders dominate.
Worry not. I’ve thrown the kitchen sink at this today and I’m pretty sure the next RNS will be a lesson to many! I can confidently say that 50 odd pence post settlement is the best value Nanoco has ever been. Seriously. It’s absolutely mental!!!
not everyone is sitting here comfortably, what with the way the sp has played out today
Let me assure you every long term holder, like me I assume, has been sat with an unwipeable smirk on their face all day.
There’s been a whole load of guff from day traders. Fine let them do what they do.
But LTHs have an edge, they remember what Tenner said, and they have a pretty good idea about what sort of figures are involved. I’ve never been so relaxed. 100% of my portfolio now sits here and I am happy as Larry.
There’s not long to wait to see exactly what this settlement is worth, but my money is on everyone in under £1.50 being very very happy indeed.
To be fair a short with no settlement wouldn’t have been the worst shout. Likely to be some nerves and some selling. But with this news the shorters are getting burned big time.
Escala what are these figures based on? I don’t get it.
Even the most conservative settlement figure would place past sales ere between 3-500m then you have the issue of forward licencing which brings with it a potentially lucrative annual return, especially given Samsung’s pivot to Qdots. I personally see the figures much higher but for the sake of argument I’ve been conservative.
My guess is that LOAM are selling, this is a golden opportunity for them to perhaps save some portfolio performance in a general market environment that hasn’t been kind, regardless of whether they think this is fair value they are a fund and profit is profit.
I suppose it boils down to if you trust Tenner. Most LTHs do. I believe the settlement will be fair value and I’m as bullish as bulls get that the settlement will be, in its entirety, multiples of current Mcap.
Talk of reversing a settlement is just nuts deramping. It would have been signed off at all sorts of levels of both company, and also seen by the judge. It’s happening.
You do you escala. We are all in a vacuum so you’re only ever going to get ball park figures. I have my own mind on it as do many others - the market is way out. But if 60-70 is enough for you (and let’s face it that’s not a bad week’s work!) then you go for it.
Anyone who says ‘the market is always right’ needs to look at this share and give themselves a good hard slap in the face
Had a few more on the overdraft at 62p. Insane MCAP.
Remember first round is on Intrusive!
Think I’m going to frame that RNS and kiss it every night before bed haha. I’m at work and can’t even see straight.
Thank you to all.
To 99%, my strategy would’ve seen reckless. 90% of my portfolio sits here and as I said a few months back I sold other shares to put more here. My faith in Nano’s legal team never wavered. Thank you to everyone here for always helping each other out. Miracles do happen.
Shout out to lobo whose legal analysis first persuaded me to ‘go big’ here. And to Nassim Taleb for his wise words: you must have skin in the game!
Well said RJT. Remember what tenner said too. Any settlement would encompass a fair value licence for the LIFETIME OF THE PATENTS. Don’t let your shares go cheap even if they are showing you a great profit guys!
Without a figure on the settlement this share is going to be the Wild West for traders over the next 30 days. Enjoy the ride folks and hold on to your golden tickets!!
If this is true I could literally cry. I topped up on the fumes of my bank account on Wednesday hoping against hope for a last minute settlement. Get ready for some massive fireworks today!!
WHAT THE?!?!
Kirkland are one of the pre eminent law firms so they are all hot shots! But he can only work with the tools he’s been given.
Forgive my ignorance… Surely once the trial is underway then the window for a settlement ‘in trial’ is closed and the legal process must run its course?
If ‘in trial’ settlements are allowed then the whole mechanism for applying pressure for pre trial settlement loses its sting, in addition to an unconscionable waste of court and juror time?
Thanks for sharing frostbar. Just in case the point needed labouring, the fact that Samsung’s entire new product range is pivoting towards nano’s tech tells you how much is riding on this opening salvo in the US, for both sides.
Sure the current round of litigation is focused on TVs but should we win and there be no global settlement across Samsung’s product range, legal funders will be falling over themselves to be part of round 2.
I’m terms of ultimate litigation value or settlement value, developments like this raise the bottom line values exponentially.
