Tanzania could become 10 times as investor friendly and still be an awful place to do business. I think KIBO and the GoT will eventually reward LTH’s (and newcomers) but as far as me ever investing in anything to do with Tanzania again, no chance.

That has to be a joke. They can’t even get the current ones through let alone future stuff. One way of fast tracking investment would be to stop spending their time repeatedly passing the same laws and acttually give some serious attention to what is already on the table. Oh yeah and sacking government ministers every five minutes along with most of the staff in his or her ministry. You couldn’t make it up.

My prediction for activity in the coming weeks is that there will be none other than an RNS saying that the SEPCO buy-in option has been extended as all the conditions have not been met as the GoT are still sitting on everything. That has to be the most likely scenario given our history here. That is why we are still sat at 4.8p. Something needs to break the apparent deadlock.

My take is that there is a huge presumption that the power will be available for distribution. Mentions of gas and hydro and ‘other’ but it appears to go out of its way not to use the ‘c’ word but to leave that to others. What’s the point of the interconnector without the power? Exactly- none. Agreed explore. Problem is that if the GoT aren’t playing ball I guess activity on MCPP is limited other than making sure next step i.e.FC planning and preparation is advanced as much as possible.

As every day, week, month ticks by I would say the chances are pretty high. I also get the impression that there is nothing else LC et al can do so it’s all down to yes or no from the GoT.

IMO that’s what is keeping investors away and why we have one trade so far today. Given experience to-date it is also more likely to be January than today or tomorrow. Let’s hope Pauly’s guess of end of school holidays is right in which case a mere 3 more weeks of nothing.

I think we now have no timeline expectations whatsoever I.e. PPA and SML could be today or could be January. Am I wrong?

And move away from the bloody 4p’s once and for all.
