Actually ddubya, a university research team in China demonstrated something very much like that last year. Can't find the link. Just remember reading an finding it interesting at the time. They found a way to bind QDs to DNA using a technique similar to CRISPR I believe. They said at the time that theye had no commercial use in mind but that it could be a powerful tool to track the progress of viruses through the body. Maybe their scientists and Nanoco's scientists should have a chat. Over teleconference in these troubling times of course.

Doesn't take a huge leap of the imagination to think it could be used to attach dots to cancer cells as well.

I don't disagree taking the words at face value Nige. Just automatically use the filter of history with this company. Even if there are numerous interested parties still history tells us it's likely to lead to nothing.

Hmmm, I guess 'engaging with' is not the same as interested in and we've had so many similar promises from this company over the years where nothing has materialised not to believe it's really 0.

Thanks Gotrader. Reassuring that there isn't much of an effect on IQE so far. I imagine any effects would be delayed though as they work their way through the supply chain and IQE doesn't have any foundries in China that can be shut down directly. If management can manage costs the company should be okay.

I am concerned the UK government's approach will make things worse though. Could see the world recover just as we plunge ourselves into an avoidable peak and have to shut down IQE's facilities here.

Very exciting future but lays bare how tight cash is. Would have been nice to have more detail on progress with Jazz.

I was very happy with that RNS. Minimal dilution and clear way forward for funding. I think we just have to wait out the short term.

I'm back after having some computer issues and look what's happened to the SP.

So, nobody's interested in buying the company. I can't say that's surprising since the lawsuit complicated things and they're all concentrating on COVID-19. Once the lawsuit was filed it became the biggest game in town IMO. It might take ages from here which means a placing is likely. Samsung may well now conclude it could be worth waiting it out.

I'd be very surprised if any lucrative short term commercial opportunities emerged.

Nanoco has made a reasonable effort to determine the process used by Defendants to produce, at least, QLED TVs containing Quantum Dots. Exhibit 7 demonstrates a substantial likelihood that, at least, Defendants’ QLED TVs were made using Nanoco’s patented process. Pursuant to 35 U.S.C. § 295, at least, Defendants’ QLED TVs should be presumed to have been so made, and the burden of establishing that the product was not made by the process shall be on Defendants, to the extent they assert that it was not so made.

Seems likely to me that the wording would be "likely." It's probably impossible to know for sure. For all the speculation it sounds like the case comes down to finding ion clusters in Samsung's dots. Nanoco say that they can't be there without using processes they have patented. But, Samsung have huge departments of very talented and experienced scientists. Nanoco might be extremely confident but I don't see how they can be 100% sure.

So, Nanoco allege it's not possible to have those artefacts in Sumsung's finished product without infringing their IP. Now, over to Samsung to prove it is.
