We've just got to see how it plays out. The picture is certainly a lot more positive than it was before the last RNA. For what it's worth my money's on a settlement but just before the court case is due to start.

It'll be interesting to see what enduring relationship comes out of it. Presumably there will need to be a licensing agreement for the infringed patents but that it will only last a couple of years as they expire soon. Hopefully NANO has similar IP control over coming generations that will necessitate a long term commercial relationship. If they've been really smart they will have registered patents covering the same ground but raised with gaps of a couple of years between them so that they get fees for a longer period of time for this gen as well.

I'm not sure that's what it means botbot. I read it that the burden of fundting the case while it was running was removed. Hope you're right though. That would be much better.

Very good news indeed. It's reassuring to see that the case passed due diligence. That should give us a lot of confidence. Also nice to know we should get > 50% of the award. Sounds like a fixed fee on behalf of the funder.

I wonder why they can't tell us who the funder is though and what they will charge if the case is unsuccessfull. If Samsung wins and the funder still gets, "A multiple of their invested capital," Then all confidence is lost again.

Ah okay. Let's hope for both. Merck might provide some icing on that cake but not much. Any deal would be less than was in place before by definition I think.

Agree with both of you. Samsung will drag it out as long as possible and then offer as little as possible. Hopefully though botbot1202 NANO's lawyers will have enough of the Ally McBeals about them to argue Samsung up another couple of hundred million.

That's only the deadline for Samsung's initial response. It doesn't mean the court case will go ahead if there isn't a settlement before then. Settlements can happen anytime including during the case. Beyond the response we might not get anything more meaningfull until the 2nd half of next year when NANO expect the case to be scheduled.

No direct mention I could see but a lot of the slides looked like they were lifted directly from IQE presentations to me. I guess everyone uses the same PPT templates.

My take is it's true to form ddubya. Yes they're admitting they infringed the IP. Probably knew it at the time. Took the chance that they wouldn't be called out on it. Once they were, tried to intimidate the opposition with expensive lawyers (still costing a lot less than they made on the infringement) and when that failed settled for still probably quite a large sum less than they made from the infringement. So, even this outcome is still very good business for Samsung. Hopefully it'll go the same way with Nanoco and the settlement will be for a significant sum plus future royalties. Interesting to see the precedent.

Some government money may come Nano's way. Looks like they're taking a throw everything they can at the wall and see if anything sticks approach. Nanoco's a much better target for the money than One Web IMO. What are they thinking!

Yeah that will be what it was. So illiquid that those director buys pushed it all the way up there.

I thought it was a very positive update. 20M raised with the equity part at 15.5p which isn't really a discount. Another strategic investor that will dilute Redmile's percentage and balance things out a bit. Some progress in all areas with money from Jazz and more progress than I was expecting in the clinic with COVID being a spolier.

Feels like we're set up quite well for the furture.

I'm sure the pipeline is very valuable. I'm not worried at all about hanging in there. It's just will there need to be a placing along the way like you said.

We're in a very strange situation with the suitor. I got a letter saying they had extended the period by which they would purchase shares for 15.5 p until August. Why would they do that if they got as far as 90 odd % but then didn't want to by the company? All this makes me suspicious that something very positive is going to happen.

One thing I didn't think was that anything would happen soon. The company has said that trials are on hold until after COVID-19. So, what explains today's move. Curious.
