Bimmer668 nice bounce for the traders which I missed but I guess I’m in the patient investment camp as have lost out in the past by changing my mind. Following other comments if there’s a revisit of 890 as a consequence of OP falling back on supply demand imbalance and on the assumption a vaccine arrives it can’t be a bad strategy to buy on the dip?

Interesting point about the difference between now and March when there was a strong rebound. We know a lot more now and I’m encouraged to the view the risk is probably 80/20 for a ride v fall from current levels but I’m keeping powder dry until announcement next week

Looks like RDSB has bounced off 890 again for now but the Chartists among you probably have a sense of whether that’ll hold

It’s tempting to keep buying to average down but I’m quite long in this share now and everything I read suggests it’s a longer term hold with a lower upside

The yield is great at this level but my average is around £13 currently so not so high and I’m just hoping the company doesn’t cut it further

Maybe if there is positive news I’ll do as some have suggested here and add on the way up rather than on the way down!!

Yes see Brent futures down 3% currently pushed SP down since I looked earlier in the day

To be honest I don’t expect to see recovery in SP until well into next year off back of a vaccine or therapeutic treaty for Covid and resumption of near normal volumes air travel
OPEC+ also need to tread carefully to balance supply and demand while managing economic fallout of persistently depressed OP on producers
I’m holding for dividend for now

I’m not happy with comment I received from Grantmcclean1984 in response to my appreciation that Boyobach was simply attempting some serious analysis of the RDSB SP movement. It’s not about being a fan club or currying favour and I’m well aware it’s incautious to follow any buy or sell recommendations on a BB but some of the posts on this board are needlessly personal and abusive.
I have a personal friend who is a Director at the FCA so maybe it’s time to lift the lid on some of the protagonists but maybe start with suggesting LSE get its house in order. Sadly I don’t seem to be able to find the filter setting as best way would be just to block perps as on FB and Twitter
Anyone who wants to help me increase my understanding of trading is welcome and the rest can save their breath

Boyobach as always a very logical and well articulated post. I get a lot out of this BB and am enjoying the experience of being in a community that is looking to hold this share for the long term
On reflection I totally agree that controlling the dividend to target debt with cash generated will create stability and therefore long term shareholders value

Boyobach I think that assuming OP returns to some semblance of normality I’d be more minded to judge SP on a yield basis so if FTSE100 returns to historic level of 4.8% at current dividend level that’d support a SP just above £10.00 so you might need a divi hike to 20c- 25c / share range to push it to 1250-1550
Not scientific but the correlation to OP is tricky without being able to relate tgat to profit and the cost of transitioning to alternative energy it’s difficult to make sense of that. Also I’d be tempted to go back gently to raising dividends in the short term, maybe even kick off the buyback programme while the shares are cheap depending g on the caped needs and borrowing picture

Agree Boyobach I’m basing all my buying on a price in the £15-£16 range which given I’m averaged at £11 is OK with some dividend along the way as I’m not expecting the price to get there until Dec 21

Yes good day Boyobach and you called the price trend precisely- decided to wait and so missed 885 but at my level of purchase not a big deal and happier to buy on the way up than down

I was referring back to earlier post as many more PI probably focused on March low due to it being Covid related and also in real terms the price is actually much lower due to inflation!

Dec contract off over 4%
Trump jitters sent it to lowest level since June 16
That is driving sell off along with Covid sentiment
I’m Poised to buy to help my average which is still around £11.00 inclusive of dividends
Just biding my time for weekend press comment and Wall St close today as futures are down

Thanks Winsome I’ll need to in any event as will need to move some cash but thanks for heads up and no worries at all if it goes back up today as that in itself might signal an oversold position

I think the buy back idea is interesting and mathematically sound assuming a recovery happens soon but politically it might worry shareholders who might see it stall dividend recovery but also send the wrong message when jobs and capes have been cut to protect cashflow and limit borrowings

It would however be an interesting way of the BOD calling the bottom and be the next best thing to Director buys maybe?

Love to know what weighted average cost of buybacks was in 2019 anybody?
