Not wishing to be Mr Misery here but with only £300mill under management Chelverton buying is hardly a game changer is it?
£875k is less than a third of 1% of AUM so even by their standards is not exactly a punt is it ?
I do fear stale holders have high expectations here but I see no sign of the optimistic prices that had been touted, I really wonder why the BoD are throwing in the towel, that is surely the crucial question ?
There is more to this than we are aware of imho.

Hargreave Lansdowne, the big daddy of the platforms, is still on a very high p/e despite their association with Woodford, A J Bell are on an even dearer p/e, Miton being bought by Premier and this profitable minnow is on a p/e of 13.3 yielding 5.76%.
At least we are being paid to wait.
I use them (share deal active), as does LSE I believe, and find them efficient, if basic.

Interesting story on citywire this afternoon, Harry Nimmo, celebrated Aberdeen Smaller co's fund manager says that he sold Accesso earlier this year as they "had run out of growth", perhaps the board fear that too, hence their rather odd decision too hold an auction for the company.
Turkeys don't vote for Christmas and boards don't normally vote for their termination either.

So in a nutshell what you are really saying is that the board, unlike turkeys, would actually vote for Christmas ?
I admire your optimism but I do think a degree of cynicism should be used too.

I really do hope that you are right, but what bothers me are 2 things, firstly a previously uninvolved "interested party" would sure as hell do a bit of stakebuilding up to the disclosable level, but there seems precious little sign of that ?
Secondly, if customers are crying out for cross selling as the broker says why would the board just roll over and offer themselves for sale when the shares were less than a third of the high that they achieved less than a year ago ?
If they are really so high growth with great prospects why not raise money from a bond to pay for the replatforming surely interest rates are low enough now for them? And that way there is no dilution of equity either.
I still think there is more behind this, not many boards give up so easily as this one has.
Sorry but I'm a sceptic.

Also note that Cannacord divested a similar amount a little before SFM, "for discretionary clients".
Bearing in mind that they own Hargreave Hale whose VCT & Marlborough fund are both well respected early stage investors that if it were these funds divesting it is really worrying.

I posted earlier this month (price in the teens then) that I had seen a presentation of the company a while before which left me very unimpressed & it looked like Skype which you pay for.
I see no reason to be remotely enthusiastic about this stock, a tub of lard, really !

What a difference 6 months makes !
End Feb we were at 98.2p, end August we are trying for 130p.
If only the next 6 months could be the same, eh ?

I think that is a fair assessment and a sensible course of action.
After looking at a low of 80p last year it's compelling to let some go at 120p, and sit and watch whilst taking the income on the balance, I've done much the same.

You are 100% correct in principle, imo, but just one snag, have you ever tried staying in a Marstons room ?
I booked one in Devon once & it was a shocker, we didn't stay.
It is the quality aspect which has always bothered me, a pub is a pub, fair enough, but when you start investing into food etc (e.g. the Pitcher & Piano in Cornhill), the food is microwaved, not cheap, slow service, lovely building but all the places around it in the same price point are on a different level altogether.

As you know from my posts I've been fancying a bid for sometime, but looking at this Hong Kong deal, perhaps RF should look to sell the pubs, lodgings, which in many cases are pretty poor to someone with a similar view of todays deal and then see a bid roll in for the UK's largest brewer ?
Wouldn't that make sense ?

Looks as if Woodford will be forced to take a lower price for his other 20% now, well & truly lower !

Why does this stock, with a solidly rising nav languish on a discount of 18% ?
Could it be that the punters think (wrongly)this is one of Barnett's stocks, hence its toxicity?
