Hey Frankie, I only read the first & last paragraphs so no tea & cake required :-))..... only joking & I have my tea!! ....
Whilst you make a lot of good points on the universality of things like chargers, tyres, batteries, manufacturing of components etc... do you not also fear that all this 'sameness & uniformity' would blunt the need for human inventiveness, uniqueness & desire to be different ....... eventually plunging humanity into some sort of dystopian future where we all wear the same clothes, do the same things, use the same services in the same way, in the same cars in identical houses or dorms ..... all looks a bit like the last remnants of humanity floating around in chairs with a disconnected skeleton like they do in Wall-E..... yeugh!!
I think there is an inherent need for difference, whether it be big fat tyres on your car, loadsa chrome, the latest phone with it's connectorless charger (or whatever it's called), the latest fashion accessories, hairdo or weird ear (or other body part!!) Bling.
Celebrate uniqueness I say... all hail being different... long live numerous adaptors, tyre sizes & manufacturers & continued employment... what would everyone do if manufacturing requirements were so similar it could all be by robotics on a production conveyor belt of the same sameness.....
What will happen to all the garage mechanics when there are no more ICE engines is just one of the immediate problems to resolve in the next 10 years :-))
... oooh hang on nurse has arrived with more Tea & noticed I haven't got my jacket on...
