At the beginning of the day I said the results looked good, but trading results days are always unpredictable. Got to admit I am feeling a bit robbed right now. Oh well I am sure the 18p down today will be made back sometime in the future.
Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with taking profits, its what we are all here for after all. Certainly not idiotic to take profits if you have them.
Personally I think greater profits will delivered on meaningful news and as such I am still holding.
Good luck to the traders who took their profits early
Good luck to investors with bigger ambitions.
Ntd, nice one with ARB. Have you closed your position with ARB? Got to admit I don't have much of a feel for crypto stuff and I reckon it's a bubble set to burst, but I don't know nearly enough to say. Great result for you though, looks like it would have been a 3 to 6 bagger for you I'd be really happy with that myself. I think this year could be better for LLOY than 2020, but it's never going to deliver like ARB has delivered for you! Good choice.
Hi Valtree, welcome to the chat. Personally I find the regular posters reassuring. I suspect there will be a lot of new faces if/when the price starts to rise.
I guess you must have been holding for some time if you are concerned if George is still on the payroll. Personally I am not fussed if George and Satu are still employed, the important thing is that they are no longer directors and no longer able set the direction of the company. If they are still employed it will be tricky to establish from the accounts. The P&L will most likely have seperate lines for employee salaries and director salaries.. The only other possibility is a new line for consultants or contractors assuming of course George and or Satu were engaged on that basis. I will look up when their accounting period ends later. It might be interesting to see the accounts for 2020 when they are available.
If anyone else is interested in accounts it is perfectly reasonable for someone to request a copy of the accounts from the company and it is simply a mater of emailing a pdf copy of the accounts to the requester. It wouldn't take more than a quick one line to the info@valirx. com email adress.
dammed keyboard! I wonder if stock market withdrawal is a phenomenon. It was as strong blue day after boxing day across the LSE and its strong blue day today. I reckon all we need to get to OB's 2.36 is to close the LSE for a couple of weeks and let traders' pent up buying urges run wild lol!
VF, I suspect 30p is just an arbitrary target. We have been loitering around 20p for a while a 50% increase to 30p would not be bad as a result. The big question is whether a higher SP can be maintained. Reevaluating a position after a 50% gain to see if it can be maintained wouldn't be unwise and it doesn't preclude holding to see where it goes next.
Hopefully we will see your desired £2. GL
I will add my best wishes for the new year.
Rubarb, I am lucky to be in one of the remaining tier 3 areas (surprisingly). Not sure how we got here, new varient in London, next time I look its looks like the whole of the SE is in tier 4 and when I looked yesterday its pretty much the whole of England. Yup I can go out and socially distance tonight, but frankly stale biscuits might be the better choice!
When all this covid pain has passed I think moving to the IOW might be a good idea!
Here's to a better 2021! Good luck everyone.
Looks like another LSE bloodbath today. At least we aren't doing too bad today though.
All that positivity on the 29th seems to have evaporated :( oh well, its not like its only Val down today. Fingers crossed for a decent 201 update early in the new year. Gla
Well only 2 days to the end of q4.
That said I would much prefer to have a delayed update with some substance to a rush job.
I might be a little less patient however if the next Val 201 update was both late and lacking substance.
In the meantime I would suggest giving Suzy the space to get on with things rather than pestering her for updates because things might be a little delayed. If Suzy isn't behind now she will be if we start pestering her.
OB, glad to hear you're up, hope the ride continues to pay off.
Funny I have mixed feelings about people taking a drug developed here. Sure I think it would be a great thing that clinicians will increase the means at their disposal, but it makes me sad to think that the diseases that ValiRx targets for drug development exist at all. Looking forward to a better future.
Hi OB, I see there has been some more excitement in one of your holdings on Friday.
Seems like a lot of volilltlity in that particular share. I also know you have said you brought in at about £1 higher than where it is now.
I also see plenty of sales there too.
It might offer a sell and buy back lower opportunity for you, but that sort of strategy is high risk and requires a lot of confidence to pull it off. Not for the faint of heart.
Got to admit I don't think there is much chance of a deal.
Bojo right from the start seemed to be quite happy to sleepwalk into no deal as it is an easy way to get brexit done. It also helps keep the ERG on side. We even have a new euphemism for it the "Australian style deal" so that now deal can be soft peddled as a success to the public.
I guess a deal is still possible, but no matter what Bojo seems to be in a position to peddle either outcome as a success and in my opinion (and I can be a bit mean) he seems to lazy and lacks much of the intellectual rigor required for analysing the detail and consequence of decisions taken.
As for me I took a risk on LGEN. There was a nice dip last week that let me get in at 2.47. Yes I could have done better, but LGEN has been a solid performer the last 5 years so I am thinking more time in the market with that one.
I have a little dry powder and will wait and see what happens next week.
Hopefully there will be some nice VAL rises next week if the ftse starts looking less attractive and the aim market starts looking like it's worth the risk. Gla
Bit hard to see how significant this news is.
The sp will most likely go down today, the question is how significant the drop will be.
Lots of shares and those who had benefited from a covid vaccine uplift took a tumble when the first vaccine was announced. We are all a little further on since then, fingers crossed the hit today won't be too bad.. A brexit no deal looming doesn't make me feel confident today.. Gla.
I have to being a little disappointed at the moment as we are a 1/3 of the way in December and struggling to get much above 20p. Oh well hopefully there might be more sustained and substantial movement soon gla.
Morning all, hope you all have a good day.
Grace, sorry if I unwittingly started something last night, I did just wanted to congratulate people who may be winning with thier investments. Perhaps I will steer clear of that in future.
In terms of my own I brought into boo at circa 350 and again at circa 270. I am around about b/e
As for lloyds I brought a tranche back in March circa 30p , sold it April /May circa 35p, brought back circa 31p and sold again a week or so ago at circa 37. So made about 30% on that tranche, but it's been a year long project! I sold because just about anything can happen with Lloy and profits can disappear as quick as if it was an aim share! Personally as Lloy moves up I will be thinking of off loading more tranches of Lloy. When I think of the opportunity cost and the absence of divs it really hasn't been great for me. I got into shares in about 2010/11 when the worst of the banking crisis was behind us and I thought I could make a killing on bank shares lol. How foolish!
I am thinking about what I will do with the proceeds from the sale of that tranche of Lloy. Thinking gsk, hlma, ulvr. I like a bit more safe and a decent div.
Good luck too all regardless of your investment strategies.
