JR69, interesting comment about EQT not having a product. Surely their product is the gasifier technology that can deal with all types of waste not just plastics. I agree that EQT have to fund projects but that is to their advantage as they can then be responsible for the planning, design, manufacture, installation, operation and maintenance of the equipment plus sales of power, gas and heat energy whilst providing a cost effective solution with enduring revenues. This is the USP of EQT. The level of input required by EQT will depend on the type of contract. As we have seen the Greece contract is to supply whilst Billingham will be a lot more than that.
I dont think EQT will have a problem funding any projects. Certainly at the moment there is a delay in financial closure due to COVID restrictions and availability of financial staff but surely these projects would have banks and financial institutions fighting over them, just look at SAE with HANA. Subject to achieving a few key milstones they will fund 100% of the first conversion plus an extra £50m to assist with fuel pellet manufacturing facility. They obviously see little risk.
DP seems very savvy when it comes to the financial aspect of the project and this will really work to EQTs advantage. Although their product is gasification equipment DP will surely be leveraging the experience of the company to achieve project financial closure, funding and bigger stakes in bigger projects. One thing I have not picked up on, with projects such as Billingham will EQT also receive gate fees for the waste ? As well as sales of energy ?
PHE have a different model and do not necessarily deal directly with the same issue of municipal waste and will receive an annual licencing fee per site. This is not a negative but an advantage when holding stock of both or all 3 (EQT, PHE, SAE). All 3 deal with issues of waste without to much conflict over the waste they are fighting over. The added advantage of EQT being that they also work with other carbon based materials.
Very exciting time coming up in the sector. I admire the conviction of some of the poster on here with such big holdings. I am still building and will be filtering my profits here, PHE and SAE.
