The information on Suriname geology is a bit limited and will try to explain the difference with the Venezuelan basin with my limited geological knowledge.
Most of the geological knowledge in Suriname comes from oil wells drilled in Guyana upto 2001 and some wells drilled onshore by Shell in the 80s, and wells drilled by Staatsolie since.
From Jurassic times Africa and South America have been drifting apart with Tectonic plate movement.
The source rocks of the Cretaceous period are the same as the oil fields off the coast of Nigeria.
Volcanoes, canyons 200' deep, river deposits, folds, fault traps all lie very deep down.
The main source rock is offshore what I can make out , rising southwards onshore to the south of WNZ
The oil is heavy at 16'API , lighter oil has migrated to higher shallower levels and according to Shell are uneconomic, however they did say that Suriname onshore was uncommercial in the 80s and Statsolie proved them wrong at Tambaredjo oil field.
The oil at WNZ will be in traps from shallower to very deep layers and more detailed seismics will be needed to find them.
The Venezuelan basin is from the same source rocks but formation down to meteoric waters and river flows.
I can't see Cerp finding the thousands of barrels pd as offshore but sure there must be a huge upside to the 24m barrels as stated at the moment
Next couple of years will be very interesting in Suriname for me
