I think I answered your question, it takes time to configure these trains, a lot of plant will need to be moved and reconfigured for a suitable head grade

They are at the moment only planning to use one train at Havieron and keep the other for Telfer Ore if it doesn’t run out or the ore is only economical for heap leaching.
If someone could tell me where this other ore is coming from I be very interested , I can’t see anywhere at the moment.
Telfer is suppose to be stepping up its search for ore on its own licences, could this be where Shaun was intimating being asked for help.
It could be Havieron will have the 2 trains one for high and one for low grade ( that sounds like the joke about Wolverhampton train stations high and low level, I tell you one day).
Lot of work to do about getting the head grade steady.

JLP latest Sunday Roast video with Leon talking about retrieving copper from sulphides and oxides, and the retrieval of cobalt without furnaces is very interesting.

First Ore seems to be an emotive subject not understood by a lot of people.
Going by the published numbers is certainly what will happen eventually but certainly not at the start of First Ore.
The first 6-12 months will be one big chemistry lesson
The Telfer plant needs information at what head grades it needs to deal with. This will concern all sorts of concentration of acids. Large bulk samples will be needed.
Initially a few stoping tunnels will be excavated, this ore will be removed for sampling.
A mixture of grades will be picked out by the Mining supervisor down below.
A head grade at Telfer will eventually be achieved.
In the meantime they will be pursuing the highest grades possible to build up capital.

Therefore we have a short term approach to build capital and a longer term activity on maintaining standardisation of grades.

Different or should I say complex geology will complicate the chemistry required.
Copper sulphides and copper oxides are complex to separate and need different processing systems.
Both these types of coppers need to be dealt with and finally mixed into the copper concentrate.
Cobalt adds to the complexity but can be retrieved at the processing plant
With high grades of up to 1.2% in the first western front it surely won’t be ignored.
Cobalt is normally viable at around 0.05% grades but it depends what other minerals are with it, it’s an expensive procedure and is why it fetches high prices.
The new critical minerals action by leading countries sees cobalt as a critical resource and Australia is pushing miners to produce more.

The big question is whether NCM margins are too high and force it off the agenda.

You are constructing a statement I haven’t said.
I never mentioned copper credits, there are other minerals that will come back as credits that will take time to show up in the accounts.
Those are 100% revenues and yes anything within that range is feasible

That’s why I did a range showing 1% & 3% and this years and last years copper prices.
Credits also are a factor that we do not know yet and probably won’t until after a years production

I respect your opinion and I know a lot of people do not understand where I’m coming from.
You have to stop and think why have they targeted this particular area for first Ore, it’s because of HAD005.
The first stoping level takes into account the very first intercepts of this drill where they found 10% cu right from the off, there’s also an 8% and 12%.
There are breccia’s surrounding this ore with a lot less copper and I’ve shown this with HAD006 with grades varying 0.22 -1.25% which 200m east and 50m South where the sulphides turn NE, HAD006 missed this.
The drive to the eastern front will be happening just after, the cu grades here are low as well .
The first Ore has spectacular grades but surrounding ores the cu content reduces which is where Ggp has produced an average of around 0.7%
When you get down to the Eastern front 2nd level it’s the reverse HAD005 is in the southern edge of this zone with spectacular copper grades again.

As I’ve said to you before I’m looking at specific zone mineralisation not a conglomeration of zones which is where they publish their averages

They only just got back to Pearl last week to Diamond drill.
They’re drilling 8 holes around here this time, the targets further south are not being drilled this time ie Barbossa west , Teach , Archieteutis.
I think they are moving to Pascalle afterwards.
Probably be after Xmas for results.

HAD005 was an angled drill heading east
Had006 was a vertical drill targeting the Zone 200m east of HAD005 and 50m to the south it’s in breccia and which started at 470m depth.
So HAD006 met HAD005 at about 85m of ore this is below the first stope level and below the first ore zone.
Copper grades are lower here as it was in breccia not sulphides, high and low grades here of 0.22 to 1.22 discounting the lowest and highest the average works out at 0.7%
The cobalt though in this section is high upto 1.2%.

I’m not misleading anyone.
If you look at my posts you can see where I’ve “plucked” my grades from.
First ore is from the zone where HAD005 went through, the first intercept had 10% copper.
Right through the first 50m the intercepts are between 4-12%
I’ve worked through this zone gaining my own average, 3% is conservative.
Only people who have a negative twist in their postings would twist this against me.
If you follow my postings you will know that the average will fall when they start mixing in the breccia’s during retrieving the ore outside of this sulphide zone but that’s not the first Ore.
Do some research before you start criticising!

In amongst us there are some very experienced miners, who have been criticising the performance of the Decline through that soft ground.
They’ve taken the longest possible method to get through that stuff.
If you don’t know about mining I would keep quiet.

A hoist system would be perfect for the top 300m of our ore, that would be a total depth of 700m from surface but it would benefit with the use of an underground crusher to give a uniform size to the ore and reduce the bulking factor.
The lower areas are too deep for a hoist, a normal conveyor will handle 20mt per annum.
Early production by trucks before any hoist or conveyor installed preferable to get income in before more capex

How does the copper price effect Havieron
3m ton plan per annum
@1% grade copper x copper price $7,650 =$230m
Last year
@1% grade x $9830 =$290m

First Ore as I’ve mentioned before is very high in copper grades
Say an average of 3%
@3% grade x $7650 =$688m
@3% grade x $9830 =$885m

In 12 months time the price pressures should get it back to where it was despite the recession.

Exponential growth in revenues will happen with good grades and price pressures in my opinion

There is a limit to the depths these hoists can get down to , if you look at the Mining plan thread on the other site I’ve got one slide with the top ore in a red rectangle. This is taking up part of the SE crescent sulphides which are in the original 3mt plan and the new high grade pods in the northern corridor.
This is what Shaun was alluding to.
This plan will have a lot lower Capex and costs to surface.
It would have been a perfect scenario for a hoist but they’re going with trucking.
I still can’t see how this is economically viable, NCM are on about a new fleet of 40 ton Volvos.
Fully laden I would expect 35-38 ton max.
The ore on these trucks will not be crushed underground so there may be a 30% bulking factor, that means less tonnage per truck.
A 3mt plan collates to 235 trucks per day @35t per truck.
I can’t see that happening.

Your Decline lengths are way out
There is 3100m to the first stoping level and then approximately 8500m down to the underside of the SE Deeps.
These Volvos can travel at 15km.

The lower levels at these depths need a conveyor to surface and an underground crusher

A conveyor to Telfer is not viable until a bulk mining operation with a 20m ton plan comes into play.
NB! A 1.2bn ton ore body at 20mt per annum
= 60 years

I still see a big change in the mining plan.
They have to keep to the 3m ton plan as the Decline will not take anymore.
Whereas the initial 2mt plan took a lot of the sulphides the rest came from down deep, there of course was an added cost in getting this out.
Further high grade pods in SE deeps changed their thinking to a 3m ton plan.

What’s happening at the moment is more high grade pods found recently in the northern corridor in the top 300m is likely to change the shape of the 3mt plan.
This new plan could solely take the 3m ton from the top 300m and leave the lower sections for another SLOS operation.
Which could double the Life of Mine propelling Havieron into the Tier 1 category.
That’s a major catalyst.

Any bulk mine activity won’t happen till after this maybe not this decade.
Remember the SLOS is picking out high grade ore, a bulk mine will take everything reducing the average grades
