We're a UK company - Primerdesign.

Early on the government said that UK diagnostics were weak so this is the chance for government to also support UK diagnostic companies.

It's fun though and tiring! Which other share gives you the chance to play detective and piece together clues?

With all that's going on with the company it doesn't seem to have been researched at all I couldn't see any brokers recommending buy or sell.

Think the interims will put us on the map for the ii and broker notes.

I wouldn't worry about Motley Fool they are all over the place.

They were recommending airlines before the massive falls, carnival etc and then advising people to sell them a few weeks later. There are other examples of this with their recommendations from buy then to sell. They like to mention Buffet a lot but Buffet holds long term not a few weeks or several months.

They were happy to recommend Open Orphan a few weeks on 18th May as their punt for doubling up and the share price was 15p on that day. They were quite happy to present that company as having long term revenues even though as I understand it the excitement has been around covid studies

This is what they said about ORPH:

"The AIM-listed company has seen a dramatic rise. Since January the share price has grown from 5.5p to 14p. In that time, its market cap has surged from £30m to £78m. Most of that is down to froth, rumour and hype from its potential Covid-19 antibody test."

So most of it is down to froth...hype but hey folks still take a punt on what we have just said is an overvalued share because we think it will double your money. If they were any good they would have recommended the share when it was half the price instead of Johnny come lately.

The writer also says in that article he holds shares in ORPH and that he may therefore be biased. I wasn't impressed by his arguments for recommending the share. Orph is doing the covid challenge study's but I think it is funding them itself? Has Orph actually secured any contracts for these covid challenge study's?

There may be a better case for investing in Orph but that was not made out by MF. I haven't got anything against Orph and the reason why I mention it is because in the same article they were saying again don't buy NCYT but instead buy Orph because it is likely to double (NB they talk about Buffet a lot but Buffet doesn't invest in a share because he thinks it will double quickly).

Analysts have already said that covid and it's impact may be around for years. As you say it doesn't factor in the 5 billion Government contract and NCYT has shown from the past that it can successfully grow through acquisitions. The organic growth should keep it going for perhaps several years. If they want certainty of income well you don't get that with any business do you - look at your airlines that you were happy to recommend do they have that certainty of income Motley Fool? Well one of the most successful investors ever Buffet doesn't think so anymore. Aha eureka is that why you recommended selling them some time after because Buffet had sold them lol - you were aware of the virus when recommending them so your research wasn't all that was it? All over the place.

They seem very confident on a vaccine when the scientific community say they do not know if one will ever be made or how quickly and how effective it will be there is merely a hope one will be quickly produced no one can say for sure.

We are familiar with airport testing from the ebola days so I would expect that the company has already been undertaking extensive negotiations for airport testing.

Good job they have that consulting company managing their growth.

I'm not ramping but sometimes companies have so much potential that a much bigger company takes them out so they can reach the globe in a faster bigger way.

We don't need to consider takeover talk yet if it happens great.

But there is so much to look forward to at the moment aside from that.

Imo although these partnerships are private sector companies partnering with labs - the Eindhoven is Pro Labs they are going to need the PCR tests and with airport numbers imo they will want high throughput quick turnaround ones. Imo these partnerships will have agreements with manufacturers for PCR kits and the agreements will be flexible so they can source them from wherever - more future income for company.

Wasn't this one of Woodford's shares? If so the seller will be clear soon hopefully and is likely to be a distressed seller more than anything else.

You say you are down 25%. If you've has the special divi and the saves were up around 30 per cent from these levels (38-39p) a few weeks ago then you could have sold and got all your money back if my maths is correct! If that's the case and you are desperate to get out then why didn't you sell then?

I think the institution's will be waiting for the normal interims and that is when broker forecasts normally start getting revised.

The monthly sales figures don't really give sufficient justification for ii to get on board imo - they need all the figures and workings out that come with interims and finals to come on board imo.

One thing that was unclear to me was that someone possibly a broker has already done a forecast for the whole year of €3 million profit on €28 million turnover. That just seems to me to be completely way of the mark when we have already exceeded that turnover by far.

Brokers are not known for outperforming the market in the funds they manage - the common observation that fund managers tend to stick together in market activity that way when they underperform they can say well the next guy did the same.

Yes one thing I can never understand is that there investors chasing other biotechs with drug discovery at much earlier stages and yet this is languishing with an approved drug in various markets and major approvals for launching new drugs coming soon.

I suppose the other shares attract a lot of traders for their 10-20% but this one is seen as boring? A lot of traders lose money in the long term so that game is only for very skilled traders. It's more stressful as well watching shares all day!

Anyway happy to hold here on a long term view - once the 2 forthcoming approvals are in it will be very safe holding here and the upside from here is huge.

The Chief Executive I recall in one of the recent shareholder presentation talks mentioned that the board have experience of exiting investments. With a strong pipeline it might get gobbled up in a year or two?

Just thought this was interesting another first - one of many, don't forget Zika and I think there might have been another first as well. The first case of swine flu was in April 2009 and Primerdesign had a test ready the next month in May wow!

Any sign of the next pandemic get shares in Novacyt as they will be the first out with the test!

I wonder how many savvy investors were aware of the company's history of coming out with first products and based on their research bought at 10p after hearing about the spread in China? There must have been a few?
